The Boxing thread

I wonder who Matchroom have signed. Another name to be announced tomorrow. Ricky Burns and George Groves have all been signed in the past 2 weeks cant wait to see who else they sign up. Burns will be good to have and get him a fight with Broner should be good to see. I just think with Eddie Hearn Matchroom is the place to be for a fighter and boxing on Sky helps. I think it will be Joe Murray or a heavyweight or both.

Lee Selby is what i'm hearing Leighton.

Hearn has also released a statement calling on the board to punish promoters who don't pay their fighters their purses (Purses under £3000 must be paid on the night of the fight - those over within 7 days) As some fighters have been known to wait months for payments.

So there is your first shot fired from the Matchroom camp at Warren.

Hearn is also apparently battling for another 10 dates from Sky as this would enable him to sign more fighters who have expressed an interest in joining him (a mix of 8-14 current pros and amateurs)

I heard about Selby. Selby is nailed on but before Groves and Burns left Warren I heard it was someone else not either of these mentioned who have signed out of the blue. I wouldnt be shocked if Billy Joe Saunders is joining up as he has had problems with Warren too. I read his statement. I know he plans on knocking Prizefighter on the head if he gets more names in. So its all good. He needs a name for Wales to get the fans in. He has someone in Scotland , London , Liverpool and Belfast , Sheffield and Nottingham who will all sell out arenas for him in my view. Selby might not do it needs Cleverley but no chance of him leaving Warren. My outsider could well be Scott Quigg not boxed in ages.

Mitchell has been mooted a few points but apparently he's been asking for to much money but you could see Hearn saying to him "i'll let you and rees face each other and i'll get the winner a world title fight"

Cleverly isn't that big a seller in wales himself so i don't think Hearn is to fussed on that front.

A heavyweight is perhaps something he doesnt have as a ticket seller at present so i'd have outside bets on Chisora, Joshua or even Haye. Haye and Joshua have been at a few matchroom shows lately.

Cant see Haye. He wont come back unless he has a Klitschko fight sorted out. He may never fight again.

I'm a massive fan of Haye but I don't understand his mindset. Beating a shot Vitali gets him no kudos from anyone with any sense. Fight Price or Fury in a massive domestic dust up. Fight Povetkin or Helenius or Adamek.

Maybe he lacks motivation, he's earned enough money, seems like a sensible lad, only fought Delboy to shut the fat prick up.

It'd be a shame to see a man with such talent just drift away from the sport while still in his prime though

Tim Bradley v Provodnikov, really good fight

Cheers mate, tidy little tear-up that.

Wouldn't mind watching them go through that again Prov very unlucky at the end

Not sure there was talk he might go the correct route to a title shot rather than just calling him out but he was shown up vs wlad so not sure what he think he could do to vitali.

Haye I think has enough money to stay out of the ring if he wants to. Just think Haye is a money making machine when he wants to. He can sell any fight and get a good money from it. Hell he got big money from his heavyweight title fights so he doesnt need the money now. I wouldnt mind seeing him back saying that he has to come back for the right reasons. Vitali wont go on forever same with Wlad but Haye was a brilliant fighter that I enjoyed watching fighting.

Bradley fight should be a rematch so lucky to hold onto the title there last night.
Must rewatch the fight tomorrow again.

I'd like to see Haye fight again. He's one of the shining lights of the heavyweight division.,

The Bradley fight was immense I thought. First couple of rounds I'm not sure hat kept Bradley up. Thought he fought the wrong fight to be fair, think he could've just kept at range and won a pretty simple decision but he wanted a tear up.

I think in a way it might be Bradley kinda showing he is able for a toe to toe fight. Honestly think this fight even if it was close will lead Bradley with a chance of getting a fight with Money down the line.

The gypsy scumbag's at it again

Fury came off quite well there imo.

A shit talker can actually come off OK at times when they show a bit of wit, as opposed to someone like Broner who comes out with a couple of blatantly scripted lines and then has nowt else to back it up.

Speaking of Broner:

Broner is a twat. No respect to money and what money means to the average people who are struggling to survive. Yes he is a talented boxer no doubting it and is clearly loaded. In some cases its just too much money but there is worthy charities looking for money I am guessing were he grew up that he could donate all those bills if he wanted to. Theres a reason why fight fans want to see the likes of Broner and Money getting KO'd but so far both have yet to be KO'd. A bit like Naz in his prime I do wonder when both get beaten will they come back from a defeat and go on a prove that they are in boxing for the right reasons or will they just run off with there money and retire.

See Warren signed Joe Murray recently. Also hearing that Eddie Hearn is making another signing. Also that May will be a big month for Sky and boxing some big fights to be made that month interesting.

Just out of interest, what are the 'right reasons' for being in the sport of boxing?

Broner is just emulating Mayweather who is the blueprint right now of how to become a major earner in sports. Granted he's a great boxer but his antics lead him to an unrivalled earning potential.

Broner beats Burns and he could move up. The fight I wanna see is him v Rios.

Bets for tonight, treble. Bellew (points), Golockin (ko) and Rios (ko), chuck in Mathews on points if your greedy.

Warren is swimming agaisnt the tide, not long before he drowns (in nusiness terms) and thank god, the guy has stagnated many a boxers career due to his own personal gain.

He is already moving up to 147 to fight Malignaggi. Exciting.

Audley is fighting Deontay Wilder on the Khan undercard. That will be entertaining whatever happens, either Audley will get blasted out again or Wilder will be exposed.

Is Anthony Crolla a blue or what?
