The Boxing thread

Box Nation stream for the Pac fight. Probably won't kick off until 5 or 6 but just in case

<a class="postlink" href="http://firstrows.biz/boxing/manny-pacquiao-vs-chris-algieri-frsg6dcc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://firstrows.biz/boxing/manny-pacqu ... i-frsg6dcc</a>

Good interview with Eubank Jr at the moment.

Pacman fight was alright. He won every single round so it was all over by the 6th really and most people knew it. He knocked him down 7 times during the fight.

Also, fuck boxing in China. That undercard had more scrubs than Park Hospital. I swear Boxcar Willie vs Big Ken was the floating fight

Pacman v Money they are talking about it again. I could see either a Money fight or a fight with Amir Khan happening for Pacman in his next fight. I would rather have Pacman v Khan but I think its nailed on the winner of the Khan fight fights Money.

As for Bellew v Cleverly will I heard reports that Cleverly injured his hand and I argee with people saying the fight or the occasion won out. A number 3 fight would work and in Cardiff be good instead of Liverpool maybe if Bellew can win a world title fightin Hook he could well win one but I would fancy Cleverly winning the rematch if they were to do it again.

I doubt there would be that much interest in a 3rd fight, one guy on the ropes for the last 3rd of the fight with the other not landing a decent shot.

Why not try to avenge their defeats at light heavy rather than carry visible body fat?

In fairness to both Bellew and Cleverly they wouldnt beat the guys that beat them in a rematch at that weight again. Thats the reason why Cleverly moved up. Bellew too but he was drained at the weight. Bellew was never a great technical boxer but he has power but he hasnt got the power to KO Cleverly. No matter what I think Cleverly v Bellew could well be done again if the demand was high then why not. They need a top card to fill out a football stadium but will it happen who knows. If the demand is there it could well do.

I know, it was rhetorical. Men on the run.

I can see them fighting for and losing world titles at Cruiserweight and there being nowhere for either of them to get a good final pay day, so a third fight could well happen in a couple of years. I doubt it will be at the Millennium stadium, dont think either of them are that popular or the quality high enough to fill that.

These two NEED each other, because neither are world class in my opinion.
Sky proved once again if you hype it enough the public will buy it.
The top performers were really on the undercard, but to sell out a venue like the Millennium Stadium you'd need a couple more evenly matched top fights. Not people like Joshua beating up Skelton.
To be honest Billy Jo Saunders v Chris Eubank Jnr, this weekend, is a 'proper' fight. Just not being hyped up cos it's on Box Nation.

Joshua is a colossus, obviously geared up to the eye balls......but he has a fantastic physique and awesome power. It will be interesting to see just how far he can go.
Talk of his next fight being against Kevin Johnson. That's a definite step up from the people he's been fighting so far. He's lost 4 of his last 5 fights, but his record is 29 wins 6 defeats, he's never been knocked out, and he's been in the ring with some decent boxers, his defeats have been against the likes of Manuel Charr, Dereck Chisora, Tyson Fury and Vitali Klitschko. If you can take all of them the full 12 rounds then you must have something to you. He lost to them all in landslide points decisions, but he went the distance, and that's what Joshua needs. Johnson clearly doesn't have the power to trouble anyone half decent, but he can obviously take a fair bit of punishment and keep going. Joshua could do with a fight that goes a good distance. However, If Joshua can stop Johnson, especially if he does so early, then that could be a real indicator that he's the real deal.

When will sky start showing it for free? Still got Pac vs Algieri on record to keep me happy till then anyway

You might get it on Thursday or Friday I am guessing. As for Billy Joe Saunders and Eubank Jnr it should be a good fight but I have question marks over both the winner of this fight I think fights the winner of the Lee v Korobov for the WBO World Middleweight title. So I hope Lee wins being Irish but its Lees last chance as he is a good fighter to watch at times can bang but is also a bit easy to hit. Adam Booth and him teaming up for there 3rd fight I think now if anyone can get a game plan to win a World title its Adam Booth so I would be hopeful of Lee winning the title. Then we might get to see a World title fight in Ireland against the winner of Eubank v Saunders is what I am hoping for.

Just have to say Katie Taylor won her Fifth World Championship final in a row. On top of that she has won 6 European titles and a total of 17 major titles so far at the age of 28 could of went pro but wants to regain her Olympic Gold medal in Rio in 2 years time and I wouldnt put it by her. I would put her up with the greats that have laced them up over the years. Well done Katie.

In case anyones interested tickets go on general sale for Crolla vs Abrill at midday today

Crolla didnt look all that great in Dublin last time out. A good boxer but lacks the power. Abrill is a good boxer too but also lacks KO power too. I think it will be a close fight with Abrill keeping his title and winning on points. IF there is close rounds Crolla will get them if not then the champion will get them. A big step up for Crolla this fight. Shocked that a Crolla v Mitchell fight wasnt made yet but if both win World titles its a natural next step. Mitchells power would be too much for Crolla I feel. Any news on the undercard and who is on it?? Just seen that Brian Rose v Carson Jones is on the card a real make or break fight for both fighters that 1.

Chisora v Fury, you'd be hard pushed to find a bigger pair of cnuts than these two.
One of those comedy fights where they both get knocked out at the same time would be nice.
