The Boxing thread

Yeah some good fights this weekend. Looking forward to the Spike O Sullivan and Eubank Jnr fight think this might be the stand out fight of the night a couple of knock downs and some good action. Spike is flying it in the gym and is fully of confidence for the fight. The gym are lumping on him to beat Eubank Jnr but just from what I seend of Eubank Jnr he has just got too much for Spike, who has a punchers chance of winning the fight. A close fight but Eubanks should get it.

AJ and Whyte will be good while it lasts think AJs chin will be tested big time. I expect Mitchell and Bellew to win comfortably same too with Campbell but i think Josh Warrington is in for a hard nights work, Jorge Sanchez is a huge fight unbeaten in 15 with 9 wins by ko this lad might cause the upset of the night in KOing Josh if he is taking him lightly.

15/2 For Joshua to be knocked down and win or 15/2 for both fighters to be knocked down. Maybe a bit of good value with Joshua yet to have someone throw a punch at him.

I fancy Mitchell to beat Crolla, so I think he'll put it all out there this weekend to ensure he gets that fight.
Bellew, as previously stated, is the one who I think could well get KO'd. Just leant towards a narrow points win.
Campbell is a class act IMO so can't see him struggling whatsoever.
I know little about Sanchez, though a fight with Selby (which he will comfortably lose anyway) will never happen if Warrington doesn't win this.

Crolla > Mitchell for me. I think the Dagenham Destroyer is coming to the end of his career now and has lost his cup final already.

Bob Shannon has been cleared of the charges against him.

Bet that doesn't make the headlines as quick as the accusations did

Joshua KO Whyte
Eubank PTS Spike (But if Spike lands flush he will KO Eubanks)
Mitchell Lose to Barroso PTS (Mitchell has had too many wars for me and sounds a bit punch drunk Crolla would beat him anyway)
Bellew PTS Masternak
Campbell KO Mendy
Warrington PTS Sanchez

Joshua KO Whyte
Eubank PTS Spike (But if Spike lands flush he will KO Eubanks)
Mitchell Lose to Barroso PTS (Mitchell has had too many wars for me and sounds a bit punch drunk Crolla would beat him anyway)
Bellew PTS Masternak
Campbell KO Mendy
Warrington PTS Sanchez

Agree with most of those but think Eubank might be able to stop Spike, think it will be a KO either way, but leaning towards Eubank. Think Mitchell should beat Barroso but agree about the wars, can't see him ever getting a world belt now.

Warrington has dropped out due to a virus and has been replaced by Chisora.

Looked awful vs Nascimento but saw Derek fight last weekend he looked in decent shape and put in a good performance albeit against poor opposition. Be good to see him as a euro gatekeeper.

Chisora will be out again in January on the George Groves bill which will be on Sky more than likely if he doesnt get injured. Think him and AJ will be a fight made in the summer time.
I think Warrington will fight in Leeds makes more sense now early next year but think he will be found out by Sanchez. I know 1 of the Hyland brothers over here was begging Eddie Hearn to get that fight last year and he still wants the fight but Hearn seems reluctant to put Josh in with him. Also he was looking for the Selby fight too. Some really good fights could well happen for a few fighters next year 2016 might be the best year yet for British boxing and there could well be a few more World Champions added to the growing list.

This up coming AJ fight is his first real test. I like how Matchroom are handling him. I think if they have a 5 fight plan for AJ is the best plan. White is 1 . 2 fight the European Champion Erkan Teper , 3 a defence against Christian Hammer , 4 Povetkin and 5 a World Title fight. He could well be fighting for a World title in 2 years time. I think he has the skills but depending on if he can take a shot on his chin.

Whyte is obviously the toughest test for Joshua so far, and Joshua hasn't had to take any real shot of note so far. Whyte's record is a bit misleading though, yes he's unbeaten, but so was Cornish. If you look at the calibre of Whyte's opponents, and their records, they aren't too impressive. Whilst Joshua's opponents have all been taken out quickly at least some of them had decent win/loss records beforehand. 12 of Joshua's 14 fights have been against fighters who have won more than they have lost, whereas with Whyte it's just 9 from 16, and 3 of those had less than 5 fights in total to their name.
