The Boxing thread

You slag off Wlad and Vitali but at least they made the fights happen in Europe when they held the power, but the half-weights can't draw flies here so go to the US.

I didnt slag off either brother. I was more so on about American fighters and to some extent some Mexican fighters not fighting outside of the US and Mexico. The heavyweight division for years was lacking a American heavyweight to get behind. Now with Wilder they seem to have 1. Will Wilder fight AJ or Klitschko outside of the US I would doubt that very much. It will be in the US and if it is AJ it will be in Vegas thats the only Heavyweight Vegas fight for me out there. The brothers were dominant for years mainly in my opinion lack of real talent. Seems to be more talent than ever before now at heavyweight.

Sorry, disagree.
There were probably 10 guys on Wilder/Joshua's level at any given time in the 70's.

A real good fight again on a second watch. Some of the punches thrown was something else Leos jab won the fight. Crazy as it may seem. I also think some of the rounds Leo nicking it in the last few seconds after Carl doing generally well in those rounds. Boxing wise for Carl we just didnt see his jab and combinations. A poor night for his jab it was the worst I seen it in a long time he will come good and I think any rematch will happen in the US and I wouldnt be shocked if it is Vegas again sadly. Carl will do well to get it outside of Vegas but ideally they would do it on somewhere else other than Vegas or Boston. They could well fight anywhere in the US after the first 2 fights and get a very good crowd. Its always great to see fights like that at times in boxing. Hopefully both guys got well paid and the same for the 3rd fight too. Frampton will have a lot of offers stateside after those 2 fights with Santa Cruz in the future so seeing him fighting again in Ireland or the UK might be a while off sadly.
I read somewhere Frampton got $1m and Cruz got $900k.

Great fight, I had Cruz up by two rounds at the final bell, he pinched them rather than dominated in them though for me with his reach, his jab and accurate body punches... looked as though those were the things that were worked on the most for Cruz along with not chasing Frampton too much allowing him to counter.

It wouldn't surprise me if both Frampton & Cruz got paid quite a bit more than $1m and $900k with it being in Vegas.

Yeah I kinda guess Carl was getting paid well for going into the Vegas. Got to think about Carl he is a tough hard guy no fear of him fighting in rivals home town. He deserves to be paid well.

I do wonder if they will get any per cent of the PPV buys attached to it. With the first fight being so good on PPV the numbers would of been greater than the last 1. And if they have the 3rd fight it will be greater again. These 2 guys deserve every penny.

Forgot to say Mikey Garcia was immense to say he's been out for 2 years, I think it was him Mayweather picked to claim the #1 P4P spot soon after he retired(might have been because he was planning on signing him but either way it's high praise) shame he had to take time out because of legal proceedings with his ex promoters, it stalled his progress massively.

Yeah Mikey Garcia looks great and the KO was some punch. That lightweight division looks a hot division. They could well do a Super 6 in that division. With Mikey Garcia , Rances Barthelemy , Robert Easter Jnr and Terry Flanagan all unbeaten world champions and if you were to add in Jorge Linaes and Anthony Crolla you could well get some brilliant fights and match ups. I would pay good money to see some of those fights.

ITV Box Office.
Eubank jnr v Renold Quinlan
David Price v Christian Hammer
Adam Etches v John Ryder
Kid Galahad also on the card. Complete piss take this being a ppv.
