The British Monarchy

You talk about respect, but clearly you can’t respect somebody’s right to privacy about a medical issue, although you’re a bit too dim to realise that aren’t you? And the one member of the Royal Family who wasn’t born with a silver spoon, but again that one went over your head as well.
Haha! I love your insinuation in every post that I’m dim.
I’ve done ok for someone who you think is a bit thick.
Maybe your smart is different to my smart.

If only Chris Hoy and the rest of the celebrities that have had their lives scrutinised were allowed the same privacy.

If you’re a celebrity these days, the media are interested in everything and anything about you.

Kate wasn’t born on a council estate, she still silver spoon material.

I think it is quite difficult to make the case that Kate was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth, relative to nearly everyone else in the country except perhaps the royal family and our billionaire co-royalty.

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was born on 9 January 1982 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading into an upper-middle-class family.[1][2] She was baptised at St Andrew's Bradfield, a local parish church, on 20 June 1982.[3][4][5] Her parents, Michael Middleton[6] and Carole (née Goldsmith),[7]were a flight dispatcher and flight attendant at British Airways, respectively; she is the eldest of their three children. In 1987, her mother founded Party Pieces, a privately held mail order company that sold party supplies and decorations. Following her mother's retirement and the buyout of her majority shareholding, the new business management at that stage encountered difficulties after axing the quarterly product catalogue. Party Pieces was subsequently rescued from administration in 2023 by millionaire entrepreneur James Sinclair.[8][9]

By the early 20th century, the Middleton family had married into British aristocracy[10] and benefited financially from trust funds which they had established over a century ago. Her Middleton relatives, including her great-grandparents Noël and Olive Middleton, played host to members of the British royal family in the 1920s through to the 1940s.[2][11][12] Her mother's family are descended from coal miners, and have been described as working-class.[13][14] She has a younger sister, Philippa, and a younger brother, James.[15]

The family moved from Bradfield Southend, Berkshire, to Amman, Jordan, in May 1984, where Catherine attended an English-language nursery school.[16][17][18][19] When her family returned to Berkshire in September 1986, she was enrolled aged four at St Andrew's School, a private schoolnear Pangbourne in Berkshire. She boarded part-weekly at St Andrew's in her later years.[20] In 1995, her family moved to the village of Bucklebury[21][22]where she studied at Downe House School.[23]Middleton was a boarder at Marlborough College, a co-educational boarding school in Wiltshire,[24][25]where she showed talent in sports and was captain of the women's field hockey team.[26] She obtained three A-Levels in 2000, with an 'A' in mathematics, an 'A' in art, and a 'B' in English.[27]

Despite being offered a seat at the University of Edinburgh,[28] Middleton took a gap year, studying at the British Institute of Florence in Italy and travelling to Chile to participate in a Raleigh International programme.[29] She worked as a deckhand at the Port of Southampton in the summer preceding university.[30] She subsequently enrolled at the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland, to study art history. She briefly studied psychology before focusing solely on art history.[31]She worked part-time as a waitress during her studies.[32] While attending university, she achieved a gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.[33] Middleton was an active member of The Lumsden Club, which held fundraisers and community projects each year.[34]In 2005, she graduated from the University of St Andrews with an undergraduate MA (2:1 Hons) in art history.

Her mother clearly comes from a working class background. And not everyone who goes to private school is a bonefide aristo.

Her family had trust funds.

That immediately make her more well-off than about 90% of the inhabitants of the UK and about 98% of the inhabitants of earth.

She wasn’t working class.

It doesn't matter either way really does it mate? Any stick that's big enough or close to hand.

The Princess Of Wales is only a real Princess if she was discovered by her Prince working in a chippy in an old mill town.

Not sure why you’re bringing celebrities into the argument. The media clearly want to divulge all the details about the Princess of Wales, all the gossip circulating about her health, but that doesn’t give them any right to do so, or explain quite why you need to know more details than have been provided.

In fact your response to hearing about her having an operation was to make a crass, misogynistic joke about it on here (now deleted by the mods sadly), so I can discount the possibility of you being genuinely concerned about her health. I would suggest that it’s nothing more than nosiness, boredom, and the sort of behaviour that society used to associate with women of a certain age gossiping about their neighbours. Except it’s now middle aged men doing the gossiping on the internet, and it’s a bit of a sad spectacle to be honest.

The stuff about her not being born on a council estate is all a bit tedious as well by the way.

Lots of speculation that she wants out of the family, and that these weeks have been used to negotiate and persuade. True, or not, there will always be questions when celebrities take time out. I hope she's healthy, on a human level, but the rest is of no interest to me.

We have got some serious envy going on here, thankfully a minority in this country. Some people think it's on point to rub their chins and get their little faux bohemian knickers in a twist and contorting themselves into shapes to ingratiate themselves with the hoi polloy.

I didn’t actually say she was working class? (She can’t have been working class anyway because her Dad didn’t work in a factory as a sole trader).

Nobody knows that mate, mind you the great unwashed love a good yarn ;)

Just imagine if it was a Chinese chippy or a Halal curry house....

Then what is your definition of being ‘born with a silver spoon in your mouth’?

Here is the Cambridge Dictionary definition:

to have a high social position and be rich from birth

See the bat phones working.

Evening Mexico.

Christ let’s hope she stays out of tunnels then.

Funny that the people on here demanding a daily update from the Royal Family are the same people who spend hours, days in fact, saying how irrelevant the Royals are to them and how disinterested they are in them.

But as soon as some children start gossiping about them on Twitter, then they suddenly need to know all the details and it’s a disgrace that they haven’t done a Q&A on the One Show.

Because the royals are celebrity culture now, apart from the weird simps that fawn on their every appearance and ignore all criticism of them.

The fact you’re bringing up misogyny again suggests to me your entire viewpoint is skewed.

Like Imsaid when you last accused me of misogyny, please write what I wrote and try to point out any misogyny in it. You didn’t then and you won’t now as you’re just using it as a too, to deflect your lack of judgement.

As you’ll have seen since, I still don’t care about them. Most of my posts on here are either jokes or responding to twerps like you that can’t see the wood for the royals.

You brought up silver spoons. She’s hardly anything but Upper Class. They tend to be born with silver spoons in their mouths.

The fallacy that any of us are envious of the royals is hilarious. None of us would want to live like them. Look at them. They’re joyless, inbred simpletons that get given everything in life, but can’t do anything.

You might be middle aged, but that doesn’t speak for me. :-)

Kate wants out of the royal family they say.

We're not at the shagging all the celebrities or sucking yanks toes off on a yacht stage yet so it's all good mate.
