The British Monarchy

I don’t look at it that deeply tbh.

All I did was point out that there is a fair bit of hate bandied about, lots of hypocritical support for the ugly cousins present and past because your enemy is my enemy :)

Neither am I.

And just because there has always been—and will always be—inequality doesn’t mean we can’t point out when people are intentionally or unintentionally trying to obfuscate it and the inherent issues with it, especially when it is based on excepting the narrative very carefully crafted by those that stand to benefit most from its acceptance as inevitable and inconsequential.
I think that's the crux of this whole thing to be honest.
People assume there is something sinister/underhand with the whole photo debacle, when the truth is probably far more boring; she edited it because she likes to play around with photos. That's it.
Now, whilst I understand that's a "no no" in official photos of the RF it doesn't actually indicate they are seeking to change history does it?
Unless of course any one of the hundreds of theories out there on the virtuous truth giving social media platforms are correct eg she's been beaten up, she's dead, she's leaving him, blah blah blah.

Honestly, I've never seen an overreaction like it.

But that’s not the context of the saying.

Making it the context means no one outside of the royal family is ‘born with a silver spoon in their mouth’.

And that is not the definition of the phrase.

That has little to do with whether Kate herself was born in to wealth and privilege.

Are you really trying to imply my issue with @Brewster's millions nonsensical defence of his assertion Kate did not come from wealth and privilege is based on “hate”?
The context is entirely relevant, and you know that as well.

She wasn’t born into an aristocratic family, her parents both worked normal jobs and her family’s wealth appears related to their business activities rather than any trust funds.

So you are still maintaining that she was not born in to wealth and privilege?

And that being “born with a silver spoon in your mouth” only applies to those born in to the royal family (despite that literally not being the definition of the phrase)?

I think we may be having two different conversations at this point.

Her parents may have been living a comfortable middle class existence, but the idea that she was born with a silver spoon in the same context as the Royal Family simply isn’t true.

That was the original remark that I referred to, which I think most people would tend to agree with. Obviously I wouldn’t have made the remark if I knew that someone, for some unknown reason, was going to bore me to tears about it.

If you can't see that some have then maybe look harder? Weird how the 2 people on this thread from the other side think that I mean them and the others just snipe and try to bully.

Hell even the "What about the others" has been mentioned yet again.

No hatred towards Kate and Wills and the RF in general - not a big fan but not against having a RF either

I did object to the media coverage and the vile abuse thrown at Meghan specifically- was and still is spiteful, pathetic and depressing how many jumped on board with the bullying.

Now it’s interesting to see the difference in reporting and protection of Kate by the very same media.
Could you imagine the outcry and rage if Meghan published a completely fake photo and everything that’s followed since ?

The whole saga is intriguing and wondering if it’s all just for publicity, if she’s genuinely ok or she’s just resting up and everything’s fine. I hope it’s the latter.

This is what you said:

“And the one member of the Royal Family who wasn’t born with a silver spoon, but again that one went over your head as well.”

And I pointed out, relative to the vast majority of people in the UK (and 98% of people on earth), excluding the royal family, she was actually.

You then chose to change the context and narrow the definition to the most specific version possible (the phrase apparently only applies to those born in to the royal family) to suit your framing.

And you don’t seem bored given you continue to respond and defend the nonsense.

But I will stop with my calling it out, for the benefit of everyone else in the thread.
