Re: Where would Celtic with current team finish in other lea

They play out of their skin in Europe and can put any team to the sword on their day but to keep that up for 38 games with an inferior squad is very difficult. If they survived the premier league they'd become dangerous. They'd soon start raking in the cash and attract big names and have a huge fanbase to help.

I'd love it if someone bought Aberdeen or Hearts, and pumped shitloads of money into them to stop all that dominance of the top two. No one would though it wouldn't be worth running at the huge losses every week

They reckon they could win the Belgian league, finish second in Holland and Russia and secure a top ten spot in England?

Spookily had this same conversation with my son the other day, think we concluded they were probably only good enough to be a solid mid table championship team, tho with their fan base and fairly decent world wide following, they could end up good enough to to be a top 10 EPL side...
Don't know about that, they don't have a much bigger support base locally than a lot of championship clubs and a few years of being shown how far behind the top 5 or 6 clubs in England they really are would send most of their Irish fanbase packing (95+% of those are first and foremost dippers or rags anyway).

Valid points, tho they do get crowds of 50k, would have thought they would be like rangers fans have been, when they dropped to the bottom league, think the draw of playing the English week in week out would fill the grounds and they have a very good set of traveling fans, also the amount of Scottish descendents around the world that claim to be Celtic fans would make the ad men and marketing teams wet their pants, they seem to be able, sometimes, to attract quite big names, given the more coverage and kudos in the English leagues would help them get more of the bigger players...

they can always raise their game for a big european night , but in reality they are a mid table championship side , i reckon they would walk the Luxembourg division 2 .

well and truly dicked by Legia Warsaw 4-1 in their first leg CL qualifier. And the Poles missed 2 penalties.

The current Celtic team is rubbish, no doubt about it.

However, if they came to England, with their fanbase and the TV money here - I think they would be a threat.

If you look at their budget compared to the lower Premiership sides, it's quite incredible that they've beaten Barcelona in the Champion's League in the last few years.

While Sunderland are bidding £14 million for average strikers, Celtic are going into the Champion's League with a team full of £2 million players.
