The Cheltenham Festival.

I think we need to look for mud monsters tomorrow.
I remember once bettting a horse when I was about 17 that was 40-1 (which I took) in the morning. Course went from good to heavy in 3 hrs and it won at 2-1 ! I only had a couple of quid on it but at 17, an £80 win was a fortune. My mates on YTS schemes were earning £25 a week and a pint of Castlemaine XXXX was 99p in my local club.

Happy days, we all remember the early successes.

Mine was when I was also 17, backed Captain Dibble on debut at 33/1 just for the name no doubt and it won, I collected it and nothing was said but in retrospect, I should have given my dad the slip to collect just in case they took it off me for being underage.

I once got a false price off the woman behind the till in my favour, the horse was Timeless Times, a multiple sand winner, it was being backed off the boards and I was stuck in the queue, for whatever reason she looked at the main TV screen and the price was 7/4 but she wrote 7/2, had a tenner on and they paid out but the manager was a little bit off about it, I never argued but said that was the price his staff had put down and I hadn't noticed.

You don't win to many times from the bookie lol

It’s amazing how you always remember the names.

I had some good wins when I was younger. Biggest was £330 when I was about 19 which again was a lot of dough back then. My mate won £2500 on the two from each section on the football coupon! I was earning £5000 a year at the time so a huge amount then.

Got 4 in a lucky 15 once, nice prices, around £1500, I put it on on the day I went on holiday with the family, no internet signal on the poxy caravan site, found out I'd won on the Tuesday, it was very surreal lol

The good old days. I don’t bet as much at the moment but in a daily comp over the 4 days with around 12 mates so looking for some mudlarks for tomoz !

Short price double today as my main bet Bob in the first & Alloha...also a squeak on Stolen Silver Ew later on.

Overall I'm about 5% down on the meet, sadly I changed from the 18/1 Markham horse on day one at the last minute but, is what it is.

11 Irish trained winners to 10 UK winners. I didn't see the UK having 10 winners so a good festival for the UK.
Paul Townend on the first how unlucky he was I had that in a double so killed my double bet. This year's been the worst for me at Cheltenham in years.
You simply can't pick them. Tomorrow the Gold Cup picking a winner there will be tricky. Galvan I fancy I wouldn't rule out 5 to 6 horses in that race. Also in the first it's hard to go against any of Mullins or Elliotts runners all have a great chance. Think Ireland horses will dominate the final day.
