The City Of Manchester, The revolution will be televised.

If the Metro went right to COMS. Then alot of people I know would go more often.
An interesting point. As the Sheikhs in the UAE are shortly to unveil a brand new Metro system here in Dubai, which they reckon will attract thousands of tourists (my arse), perhaps they could be asked to help invest in extending the Mancunian version.

Agreed. The parking at coms is so stressful to get out of. Sort a tram out to get to and from coms and SORT THE PARKING OUT. I think a lot of blues stay away because of the horrible parking fiasco when trying to leave the ground. I know of 3 people who have had their car bumped because of people fighting to get out. I totally understand why so many people leave 5-10 minute before the final whistle because of that car park.

I got run into trying to get out of a COMS official car park a couple of years ago.

I now park a good distance away to ensure I can get away.

Let's not get this out of proportion.

Every club has lots of fans who do not attend.

I would suggest we probably have a smaller proportion than most, actually.

We all said that the SWP and Robinho signings would get us 48K week in week out. It didn't happen, it put about 2K on the gate. I looked at season ticket sales earlier and they look about the same as last year's.

One of our problems as a club, in my opinion, is that United's success has robbed us of generations of young fans coming through.

If we get to the top 4 in the next year or so, we might get close to that 48K capacity figure every week. But we are miles away from getting many more than that, and will be for a while. I know there was big demand for the cheap Hamberg tickets, but it wouldn't be the same for Pompey on a Monday night, even if we were a team full of stars.

Wouldn't most blues have brought thier kids up supporting City aswell though? Obviously most kids who don't come from blue housesholds would of swayed towards the Babylon in the last fifteen years but there's still a decent amount of kids that support City due to it being handed down through generations of families.
Another thing, surely we have even more potential to tap into the younger Mancunian demograhic with the cheap under 16 season tickets. You can't beat the match day experience and we'll see a loyal generation of blues coming through if we can offer them top class football at such cheap prices. They can't afford to go to the pig sty every week can they?

i think we have 30thousand hard core fans ..10 thousand random games and big games ..cant see another 20thousand fans who would turn up week in week out ...and there is nothing worse than a big stadium half full ..i.e some of the eufa cup games..so stadium fine as it is

The thing is we need to make Eastlands a place that you feel privilaged to be there by just being there. If we sold out 48k a week and you struggled to get a ticket and then one day you get one, you would feel lucky and excited to be going and would be counting the days. If we went straight to 70k then you would know there will be a spare seat for you to come, if you haven't been going for years due to whatever reason, you could pick and choose what games you went to especially if one is on tv.

We need to sell out 48k every game for a couple of years then push to 60k. I don't think we would get 70k now, if we are successfull in the next 20 years then maybe we would!

Indeed, excelent post. I am one of those who picks my games due to the price of ticktets. Food and mortgage has to come first. I have had a season ticket in the past from when i was 6 till i was 25,for the last 3 years i have so missed it. I know so many people like myself who have been priced out.
