BAM plans job cuts after Co-op Live troubles​

The contractor’s UK and Ireland division fell to a near £20m loss in the first half of 2024 due to issues related to the Manchester arena project.

BAM UK signed a £253m deal to build Oak View Group’s 23,500-capacity venue in 2021 – the division’s largest ever contract – but costs soared amid “project delays and supply chain issues”, according to BAM.

BAM UK’s construction division recorded an adjusted EBITDA of -£19.8m (€23.6m) for the first six months of the year owing to its troubles on the Co-op Live job.

Tried to get Springsteen tickets but only ones available in presale included hotels in Manchester and we're priced at over £300+. Can see what will happen with the new hotel when it opens. The whole ticketing scam for concerts needs to be sorted out as getting beyond a joke with the whole dynamic pricing shambles etc.

Pretty standard parking cost for gigs at most arenas, doubt city will charge that any more than they charge the same prices for drinks in the arena for the pre match events,as the drinks for gigs. The COOP arena and the Football club are separate things.

Me too. Was in the presale when it opened and only 3000 ahead of me in the queue. When it came to my turn only hotel packages available. So on Friday I was on Ticketmaster bang on 10am and this time 4000 ahead of me. Great, I thought. When my turn came the screen showed up loads of blocks but when I started to choose tickets they all went blank. Had to return to the queue with 6000 then ahead of me. When I finally got to choose seats the only options were rear view at £150 a seat. Come on, £150 to look at Bruce's arse all night ? They're taking the piss. I gave up on it - since I saw him at Murrayfield in 2023 and Sunderland last May I can live with the fact that I'll miss the show this time around. The whole system for big gigs nowadays is a joke.
 
I thought the whole of the outside was covered in LEDs not just the top portion, if they aren’t LEDs black really looks crap.
 
Do season tik holders still get offered a chance for resale tiks? Looking for Tyler the creator tickets ?

If it’s any consolation he peaked, in terms of a live act, back in 1985 I’d suggest.

I noticed Ludovic Einaudi is playing there next year, but at £98 plus BF I’ve decided against it. I mean I like his music, but I’m not having that.

Don't agree. I've seen all the Springsteen UK tours from 1981 onwards. The 1985 Born in the USA shows were a bit rough around the edges (and I saw 5 of them). Tunnel of Love Tour in 1988 was superior, and still the best IMHO. Saw 6 of them. Its all about opinions though. :-)

I’m not gonna take issue with you about his shows 81-88 but I think we can surely agree his 80s was his best live era overall, and that the last 15 years he’s far from that level as a live experience. That was really where I was coming from in relation to any disappointment about not getting tickets to see him next year.

FWIW, I’ve heard recordings from virtually all his tours and although I never saw it myself, I’d rank his 1978 shows as the very best.
