just Tories being Tories

Why is this bad?

Why is this bad?

The gov.uk link is from September, apparently reiterating a policy floated 6 years ago. That would mean employers would need to pass tips on.
No argument that that's a good thing.

The FT article says it's going be dropped from the Queen's Speech, so it won't be made law.

If they drop it of course that’s bad and sadly hardly surprising given the state of this government

Blueinsa. I don’t think it’s bad, but a question on why the government has dragged its heels for over 5 years should be asked to add context. You could say that the government are being creative and useful in doing what they are elected to do and helping the hundreds of thousands in hospitality. You could also be cynical and say that they are desperately searching down the sofa for any loose change to pass over to soften criticism.
Why didn’t they do this years ago when they could? How is this going to help the many restaurant and bar owners who are being shafted every which way from rents to price of heating to food costs and now onto an erosion in the profit they could take from a meal or whatever.
Who wins when these owners go bust or throw the towel in.
it’s a headline grabbing sticking plaster.

So brink of recession, interest rates highest since.... ooh, since Labour got them down.... and inflation going into double figures.

But Tories know how to run the economy...

I wonder what dead cat will be used Friday to distract from both the local elections and today's "Fucked if you're poor" economic news?
