I've just done a quick calculation and I think that with the new minimum wage, you would have to work 41 hours a week to not be eligible.
which nobody does. Anyone working in retail will be on a 12/16 hour pw contract. They may pick up the odd extra shift due to colleague illness or holidays. They do that because it limits their liability to holiday pay and sick pay - its a simple distortion of what they call the gig economy
