The Conservative Party

I may be wrong here but they didn’t actually vote to let kids go hungry. As I understand it they voted not to extend free school meals over half term because they had given funding to local councils to provide it during this time and give schools a “break”. The councils have seemingly spent that money on something else (undoubtedly worthwhile so I won’t criticise them for it). Now where they have really fucked up is having funding coming from here there and everywhere. Why get your voucher/parcel from here except for this week where it’s coming from there. What a total PR disaster, they should have actually thought how this would play out and of course it will stick with many because their already programmed response is that the tories are heartless cunts.

I’d need to look into the pharma one, I dare say there are some connections that are questionable. It’s almost not enough these days to not be corrupt, you’ve got to be beyond question. The hypocrisy amongst politicians of all hues is difficult to swallow.
Technicalities aside, it comes to the same result. Kids starving. You have seen the pictures doing the rounds of what should be a £30 food parcel. At the end of the day, they knew what the result of the vote would ultimately come to and Marcus Rashford had to step in to shame then into a u-turn. If I was involved in politics I would be absolutely ashamed to align myself with a party like that.

In fairness, 6 Tory MPs voted for it - 6. 321 against. Every single MP of every single other party voted for common decency. You can't defend such a vote when there is literally billions being handed out in un-tendered contracts to Tory chum companies 2 weeks old. Until some form of culpability is added into Westminster politics then this will only worsen with this current government. As for the NHS corruption related to Pharma, do a little research on Tory connections. Obviously you wont read this in a Murdoch paper, and yes I am referencing a pro-indy source, but you can take from it what you wish to research for yourself. https://www.thenational.scot/news/18255016.revealed-links-conservatives-private-healthcare/. Some of Tories should be behind bars.

I’ve tidied the thread up now, but let’s leave the personal insults and abuse out of it please.

So technically they are feeding the kids but they’re still let them starve?

Hyperbole aside surely you can see the contradiction in that? They have completely fucked up the delivery of these funds and should be roundly criticised for that but I guess it’s easier to have headlines like “tories vote to starve kids” (I guess we will see pictures of starving kids at some point in them papers?) rather than “tories funding for feeding kids during half term is confusing for local government and schools”

I will take a look at the pharma, thanks for the link

Well it started with the Tory propaganda attack on the voucher scheme. Claiming that the vouchers were somehow going to (and I quote Ben Bradley) 'Crack dens and brothels'. The fucking Chidren's minister, who should be the single most person spearheading their welfare said parents can't be trusted as they would spent it on alcohol and drugs...you can't buy those with a voucher. Its total lies, which she knows. Fucking vermin.

It is a clear and refined strategy to privatise yet another section of welfare. Its not councils getting confused by beauracracy like they are making out. Its Tories putting corporate agendas of their donors before that of vulnerable children. I'm sure you wouldn't have to look too deep to connect the dots.

Corruption at it's finest. Classic Tory Britain.

It's not even privatising it, because the voucher money was already going to private companies, just not private companies that would then owe government officials a favour afterwards (or perhaps ones owned by friends and associates of government officials). There's no cushy non-executive director's job to be had by giving out vouchers that can be spent at any supermarket.

I think it was more about buying booze and fags at supermarkets but I do agree with you on the principle. I have said earlier in the thread in overall scheme of things it’s a load of old bollocks. If I have £40 in my pocket plus my £30 voucher and I want a bottle of wine with my food shop who the fuck are the government to stop me? It’s embarrassing for the poor parents at the till being treated like second class citizens. Personally I think they should just pay the money in the bank and be done with it.

For me what everyone should be focusing on is the lack of equipment and facilities for some kids to access school for the best part of the last year. It’s a national disgrace. The tech companies could have provided old stock or cheap returb tablets (in return for some tax breaks or whatever) and people could donate old ones (like they did with pans in WW2) and the internet companies should provide free access between 8am-8pm for those who need it (and the kit to access it if need be). This will cost the country a lot more in the long run. This crisis demanded, and the public deserved, a national response not this political bollocks it has descended into.

Some of us are a tad upset that clowns like you defend a govt that has presided over nearly 90,000 deaths, spunked millions on things that don't work for their pals benefit and then aim..yeh it's not their fault though!
Still, so long as they didn't meet anyone from Hama's it's all good....
I defend them on certain issues, criticise on others.

The problem is, there’s no objectivity in this thread because it’s such a left wing forum, everything is hyperbole.

If you put the most competent leader to ever govern in charge of the UK, I still think there would be at least 10,000’s of deaths, whereas you blame them for every single death in a highly contagious pandemic.

Also, a significant proportion of that 90,000 are killed because of the measures themselves to stop the spread.

There was a study 4/5 months ago that said for every 3 Covid deaths, 2 more would die from lockdown measures, directly or indirectly.

Care homes, travel bans and delays to lockdown they’ve failed in, but vaccines and furlough they’ve succeeded.

The Labour party advocated free broadband. Imagine how far that would have gone to help poor kids with their school work.

Yet they were roundly laughed at for it.

If only the Labour Leader hadn't spoke with the IRA prisoners in the Maze to see if he could get them to support the Good Friday agreement our kids would be getting help with schooling.
