well for a start you need a suitable OBD reader to find out which black box to throw away.........thankfully brakes and suspension components are still fixable with spanners and brute force.
Rust is still a bit of a twat though - care has to be taken to check what lies beneath - scrapped my wife's Hyundai in December - 56 reg low miles nice shiny silver body work - MOT revealed it was rotten as an over ripe pear underneath. Neighbour had similar with an albeit much higher mileage Corsa - looked sound but nearly fell in half when a garage raised it on a 2 post lift to look underneath
Got similar at moment daughter left her astra at ours month or so back "pinching" one of ours 56 plate looks fine but scrap value at moment versus value with a ticket means not worth doing so looks like I have lost my spare.

Feckin’ hell, another shit show on Newsnight.

Peter Bone - "I'll never show a Covid passport to get into the HoC " - Requirement will be for all places with over 500 people in there - HoC holds 650 MP's - Bone - " it doesn't apply to the HoC" ............the past week has all been about one rule for them and a different rule for us - he is spectacularly thick and entitled amongst a group of thick and entitled people isn't he?

a lot of EV's have batteries under their floors - if thats where the rot remains going to be piss funny when car owners with failing batteries are told that they can't be replaced coz they will just fall through the floor of the car lol

Still a lot of crap to come with these EV's saw a PHEV go up in flames on the production line admittedly it was a pre production car but was frightening how quick it went.

actually I remember things like the rust scandals of cars like Moskvich, Lancia and FIAT. The former two were withdrawn from the UK markets whereas FIATs got proper body protection and a 6 year body warranty so in the end they spearheaded the body protection movement. When I met my Mrs I had an UNO and she had a crusty Fiesta - the usual train of thought back in 1992 was FIATs rotted and Fords were great. My UNO never gave me any trouble, never rusted and eventually passed into her hands when its wings became as frilly as net curtains the door bottoms rusted out and it became a bastard to start in the wet
