NFU conference last week, president Minette Batters got George Eustice on stage to "clarify" how much seasonal horticulture workers need to be paid. They really don't know what they're doing. There's other stuff on here (e.g. payments to plant trees for birds and bees but not for growing food) but the crazy stuff starts at 06.15. You can give up after five minutes or listen to the whole 12 minute segment which explains why we'll be paying more for food - if farmers can persuade supermarkets they need higher prices.
