The Conservative Party

greatest? Google her achievements. She was moderate at best - aside from the miners and the Falklands nothing she could claim - poll tax brought her down because her "political instincts" were about to kill the Tories - she is an object that is fetishised by people who don't really understand the years she was in power. Go back look at videos - it was a beige world - whole communities were shut down whole industries were decimated with ho though of how to replace the jobs they were losing and her "crowning glory" privatisation has proved a disaster - we need her now like we need a second hole in our arses
Some of us don’t need to google everything to form an opinion.

I would suggest that your critique is wafer thin, and it’s actually you that really needs to better understand her years in power.

And you can't beat this as a summary of Thatcher's legacy.

Great film .....

Thatcher was responsible for the destruction of industries and communities ..... closed down the pits with no plan for the future for either the communities or the mines themselves.

Failed to maintain the pits allowing them to flood and become irrecoverable ... left us exposed to 'market forces' and now with the most expensive energy in Europe.

No plan as to how we were to maintain power production (we were dependent on coal powered plants at the time)... so we ended up importing coal from Poland and Australia

Madness .....

So what formed your opinion? Lived experience? As a broker? Or as a miner? Or as one of the 1.8 million she put out of work? Or a council house tenant that bought your house at a discount then sold it to a private landlord and now complain about HMOs? Or a humble water board manager who became a millionaire owner of a private monopoly?

I never thought I'd say it, but I'm sorry how the Tories have gone to shit.

There is a need (in the sort of democracy we have, anyway) for a moderate, reasonable right-of-centre party. Currently, no such party exists - unless, ironically, it's Labour.

I knew and worked with many decent Tories in the past. I disagreed with them on many things, but I also respected many of them. The likes of Badenoch are a different breed - and she isn't even the worst!

Brexit fucked this country in 1001 ways, but not the least in importance is what it did to the Conservatives and sensible right-wing politics in general.

And from apartheid South Africa (but then Thatcher was pro-apartheid... and pro-South American fascist dictators till one attacked the UK's territory)
