There is a lot of confusion regarding Article 16. All it means is a month of talks to try and resolve any issues. While the talks take place, nothing can change, and if nothing is agreed, everything carries on as before. All these things were agreed in the WA - thats why they have avoided going into the detail preferring to banging on about A16 and boating immigrants - and this is why they want to rip the WA up because Brexit damage will be laid bare. I also think its whats behind Johnsons idea he can comeback - despite overseeing the WA and championing it I believe he thinks the baked in failure can be blamed on his successor so he can come back claiming he can fix it
As for ripping up the WA, we are bound by article 27 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties. We can't do it.
It's all well and good right wing nut job ministers, pandering to the ignorant, about how tough and resolute they are going to be with our new found freedoms protecting us from the tyranny and spitefulness of the EU, but the cold hard reality is it's bullshit, and they know it.
