What happened?
Lord Heseltine stepped up to challenge her on 20 November 1990 and, while he lost, the 204-152 vote was not enough under party rules (at least a 15 per cent margin) to allow the Prime Minister to declare victory.
Canvassing support ahead of the second round, she realised she could not win and stepped down.
John Major entered the contest and eventually replaced her as Prime Minister.

Time for May to start deselecting the ERG gang if they don't vote the deal through in preparation for a general election. If she still can't get the numbers then I suspect it's time for a second referendum.

She probably won't (maybe can't?) deselect the ERG but if the deal doesn't pass, I think there has to be either a GE or second referendum in order to break the deadlock. If Brexit wins the second referendum or if Conservatives increase their seats, I reckon her deal passes.

I really wouldn't be surprised if they're deselected, if they cross the chamber for a government vote of no confidence. They don't have the support to elect their own leader and the Tories won't want them hampering the election and stopping them getting back in under the Tory banner.Fantasy land mate.

The reality of the situation is this. Thanks to the withdrawal act, voted in by parliament we leave in the 29th March with a deal or no deal.
Parliament has little time left if they want to change that fact.
