Two points to observe here - Kay Burley mentions how much more Blackpool is income deprived - the 2 red wall seats in Blackpool went blue last election so their MP's are being chucked under the bus and second wasn't the Army base housing provision outsourced some years ago like the railways were privatised? If so why are levelling up funds being spent on housing that should be provided by the private sector?

It is the MoD responsibility for housing UK armed forces, it was not privatised, more of a ALMO for comparison.

Blackpool got double the average LUF award and only 100 bids won out of nearly 600, so under a third of LAs got anything. If you got an award in round 1 you were less likely to get anything yesterday.

The likes of the S*n and The Daily Heil will never champion fair public sector pay. We have to hope there's a resolution soon, assuming our government show just an ounce of compassion for a change, and get round the table with union leaders and thrash out a deal commensurate with how much work our incredible nurses put in. Labour feel lightweight at the moment, and our media are entrenched on the side of the establishment; it's only the union leaders that are holding the government to any accountability at this present time. They should be greatly lauded.

They should be but with BBC and Sky news presenting unfair news cutting people off before they finish speaking.
There is little hope of us ever levelling up in the north. Expecting councils to compete for budgets pitting Morecambe and Blackpool and a few other councils against the ones who don’t win it’s not right creating division
