Read a while back that the cost estimate of £1.7b two years ago has now risen to £2.5b.
Like every gvmt infrastructure project it will probably end up c25% over the latest estimate.
Love Stonehenge and what it means but if it were in the North this project would die on the drawing board.
At the moment this ‘spare cash’ should be directed to more worthy desperate causes.

Wait till the gvmt announce the funding for the refurbishment of Houses of Parliament - just the £20b (2021 estimate).

Its not gonna happen mate - costs - world heritage site - its just a sop to the seats in the South. They have to try and give the rural Tory seats a reason to come out and vote and that they are interested in investing in their areas. They know they have lost the Red Wall and the GE this is one of those damage limitation exercises.
Its like the Inheritance Tax story today. So few people benefit as will be pointed out when it gets into their manifesto but it excites the media and has the finger prints of think tanks like the Tax Payers Alliance and the IEA all over it

One NW council was offered a £140m contribution by the government for an important bypass. Construction costs now 50% higher but no more offered.
 
MP for Romford being investigated for (amongst other things) sexual offences and misconduct in office.

Time since arrest - 14 months
Time since appearing in Parliament - 14 months
Reselected - yes
Constituents aware - nope.
