I very much doubt they would take 250 off the Bibby Stockholm - he doesn't say he will in the article.

P.S. I don't think there will ever be 500 migrants on that Barge anyway, Lawyers will block it and/or it will get burned down....

P.P.S. What is your solution to this. I assume you are a Labour supporter - are Labour not meant to be supportive of the working class? Recently a Hotel made 100 workers redundant as it was closing down as a luxury Hotel to be turned into accommodation for migrants - as basic accommodation, those people are not needed. What is your view on that? Do you have one?

My view

Set up a system so that asylum applications can be heard overseas in consulates or embassies

process the applications quickly

Deny those that are not eligible

Allow those that are eligible in ... But allow them to work ....

Treat them with respect


Pretty much aligned with the UN Refugee Convention of 1951

Well I once read somewhere that in much of history a PM doesn't get the job so much because of what they say they are going to do different, they get it because everyone is so utterly fed up of the Party in power.

Keir Starmer, if he can avoid a scandal, keep Angela Rayner off the Chardonnay (when microphones are nearby) and ask Diane Abbott not to do any TV or Radio interviews, he probably will become the PM.

All I have tried to say is - when he does, will the people in the Home Office spring into action (maybe return to the office and not wfh!) to support the Labour government, or will they carry on blocking and delaying things, as they have been doing?

I suppose one indicator will be this: Labour have said they too will use Barges to house migrants, will the Fire Brigade Union be ok with it, or will they try to block it as they have this week, with the letter sent to Suella Bravermann?

Think the answer to that is no, they wont block things. Perfect example,tory party conference, train strike,no such problems for lab conference, should the pandering knee taker, gash flashing rayner, 2 left shoes abbott,or convicted harasser lammy,ever get near number 10? Prepare to drop to your knees for the unions.

something which the French offered to facilitate and we rejected - anyone who can't see that this is a confected "emergency" designed by the Govt which they have now lost control of is either stupid or happy to be lied to.

You are living in the dim and distant past if you still believe that this is the case. Thatcher put an end to that. Lots of strikes recently but as far as I am aware they didn’t bring the country to its knees’.
