My view
Set up a system so that asylum applications can be heard overseas in consulates or embassies
process the applications quickly
Deny those that are not eligible
Allow those that are eligible in ... But allow them to work ....
Treat them with respect
Pretty much aligned with the UN Refugee Convention of 1951
But hey .... Im not a racist
Leaving aside that final line slur, any answer to my question:
Recently a Hotel made 100 workers redundant as it was closing down as a luxury Hotel to be turned into accommodation for migrants - what do Labour Party people think about that?
Here is another one:
"More than 100 Huddersfield students told to find new flats as asylum seekers moved into luxury tower blocks":
Asylum seekers to move into luxury Huddersfield flats as students booted out
One hundred and sixty-eight students will not be able to move into the HD1 complex this Septemberwww.examinerlive.co.uk
This is like 2 weeks before term starts! Unbelievable.
P.S. The UN Refugee Convention of 1951 is 72 years old and it is not fit for purpose with respect to current pressures on global migration.
The second story seems designed to create outrage against asylum seekers taking the accommodation of students. The outrage should be against the government for deliberately letting the asylum system go out of control in order to create a scapegoat. Asking what Labour people think is irrelevant. They have no control or influence on these decisions.Leaving aside that final line slur, any answer to my question:
