The Conservative Party

Everything is so bloody depressing at the moment.
Was speaking to 23 year old woman yesterday when I was at work. She has a 3 year old son and is 20 weeks pregnant.
She is waiting for rehousing because her ex partner is violent, and knows where she lives. She has been classed as priority by the social housing association she is with but weeks later nothing is happening.
Told her to approach her MP.
"What's that?" she asked
"Member of Parliament"
"What's that?"

To me it looks like there going after the people who claim ESA and are in the work focus group. Basically forcing them into work after 18 months. I'm in the support group so will be interesting to see if they come for me too.

I think it’s more of a reclassification thing. Lots of people who were previously deemed unfit for work under ESA will now be reviewed as being fit for work because they can work from home. And then unless they conform to job seeking requirements they’ll fall under the same sanctions scheme as long-term unemployed and get completely cut off.

Its difficult maintaining sanity sometimes.

The people who need real help struggling to get it because the safety net has been cut to ribbons.

A month after cancelling the Northern leg of HS2 because it was deemed too expensive, Hunt has the money to fund big tax cuts. I can't ever remember an NI cut of 2% during my working lifetime.

To be honest it was the "disconnect" that got to me.

Even as a kid I understood politics and how things worked, yet this 23 year old seemingly didn't have a clue! :-(

The rate of inflation is reducing, but inflation is not deflating…
I know what you're saying but deflation, with the exception of energy costs, is on the whole a very bad thing. As prices fall margins become zero or negative which leads to job losses and the cycle continues as supply corrects to meet demand. That is the slippery slope to a depression with mass unemployment.

What you describe as "inflation reducing" is known as disinflation.

Just dumped into adulthood/society with no one there to advise or support them.

I can understand why people feel mentally shot about it all.

I wasn’t advocating deflation. Whilst it would be very welcome for a fair few in the short term, you‘re right about its outcome,

She has at least one parent around, that I do know.
Yet she seems to have no understanding of anything in the "wider world."

That's not just down to politics or any Government, it's down to much more fractures in society.
