Have said on here recently across the road from me is a recently commissioned RN weapons officer who after about 9 - 10 months still awaits being assigned to a ship. We paid for his training and we pay his wages ......... and others are in training as the govt scraps ships....... and 2 doors down there is a submariner who is at home almost full time now - he has a nice car because we pay for it.

You know I spoke to an American a few years ago and he asked what we were taught about the American War of Independence - and he was appalled when I said little or nothing. Then I explained that so many places around the world that also celebrated gaining their Independence from Britain our kids would learn nothing else - our reputation across the globe is really not what some charlatans would have you believe and thats before Brexit.

Yeah but think about it. Pass out - get a seriously good wage - a weapons officer and a petty officer in the submarine service are not on shit money - then in a supposedly dangerous business just sit at home coining it in. The submariner has converted his garage into a gym and the weapons officer has had every upgrade you can think of on his house. When he gets a new kitchen or bathroom or roof or whatever he goes off and lives with his g/f - also a naval officer coz she is at home too - we are being gaslit at an epic level. When it suits the Tories after they have done with the Doctors they will turn on the armed forces .....think they wouldn't? This is the Tories folks.

Funny you should say that. I lived in America for a while aged 18. They all used to go on about the War of Independence and I barely even knew what it was, but I knew all about the wars we’d won. It shocked me how skewed the British education system was and that we were just another country built in propaganda.

Submariners, rightfully get lots of time off when not on deployment, so I wouldn’t read too much into that
