The teachers taught Latin in a shed on little house on the prairie, it's the standard of the teaching (Curriculum) and the standard of the students desire to learn that has changed IMHO.

If I remember correctly I was counting the number or Tory MP's forced to resign as MP's not just those losing the Tory Whip, and they were for sexual or financial impropriety. At the time there seemed to be a continuous stream of by-elections arising from sexual or financial scandal.
From your figures above the equivalent number is 2/201 = 1%.
That could be a great election slogan for Labour...

Surprisingly it’s ”only” 2 Tory MPs since 2019 election have resigned due to being a pervert or having a liking for drugs.
Another was recalled by their constituency, one for allegations of sexual misconduct and bullying.
You’d have thought it was a lot more - as if 3 isn’t 3 too many. Plenty more has resigned on political grounds.

Can't blame the kids IMHO, it's always the parents and even then that's a reach. Governments are where it ends and starts and we have been blessed in this country with governments of every conceivable nature who have just fucked it all up.
Let's look at something simple like pedestrian town centres , great idea imagine being able to walk around do your shopping without having to worry about your kids or yourself being run over.
Then they introduce big heavy electric scooters to use the so called pedestrian space so that in effect it's not realty an effective pedestrian space it's turned into rollerball.

Curriculum used as a political football by successive twatfaced secretaries of state. We would do our children a great service if we could take education out of the political arena.
Quality of the teachers these days is better than some of the weirdos, nutjobs and arseholes who taught me back in the day (11-16 age). Given that teachers have to wear so many hats these days the mind boggles how some of my teachers would have coped with in effect being a frontline social worker.
As for the kids, they'll always be kids who don't want to engage in traditional education but my sense is children are expected to and typically do take their education at least as seriously as they did in my day. The amount of homework expected of them is a multiple of what I had to do.

It all starts with discipline, discipline at home and discipline at school and in society at large. I don't mean kicking the fuck out of them but at least try to do something to give them a framework.
