The Conservative Party

I said she led the party, not that she was capable of leading the party.
If she actually believed the state pension age should rise to 80 then she belongs in a padded cell wearing a straightjacket to ensure extra security for the rest of us. If she doesn't believe the pension age should rise to 80 then just a plain padded cell should suffice.

If you want to reduce immigration to a trickle this is one of the consequences.

However how 79-year-old coppers, firefighters or roofers would manage eludes me. You would need to completely restructure society, ring-fencing certain 'light' jobs for the over-60s. In a socialist state, I suppose you might do that, but in a conservative one? In real life, there would be millions on benefits, unable to work but not getting state pension.

If Patel or Braverman wins the Tory leadership contest, the party might as well merge with Reform.
In the boiling down of the votes and candidates there will most likely be a rational and far right choice that will go to the membership. But I'm not convinced the far right choice will be arguing for a merger as that will sound weak. Defeatist.

It will be interesting. There's strong feelings on the issue of reform. To some they are what the tories should be, to others they arevthe reason so many have lost their jobs. Not just recently, Farage has been taking chunks out if the tories since he set up UKIP.
