Christchurch - was once IN Hampshire now in Dorset - if it switches back it could be the most mobile town in the UK lol
Berwick upon tweed might argue that.

From the 12th century, when the River Tweed became the boundary between England and Scotland, the border town of Berwick was disputed between English and Scots but, after changing hands 13 times, was finally surrendered to England in 1482.

Well, as you’ll well know many former parts of North Yorkshire, such as Yarm and Middlesbrough are now part of Teesside, and changed, like Christchurch, in 1974 when the Local Government Act 1972 was enacted.

Went to a funeral at the big church in Christchurch in 2000. Former colleague. Early 40s. Drowned in the sea in Majorca. Horrible business.

You mean the Priory in Christchurch?

Some who live in places like Yarm and Stokesley still consider it to be North Yorkshire because they consider Teesside to be too working class for them. Like those residents of Stockport who, when asked, say they live in Cheshire.
