Perhaps Liar Johnson will admit he lied at PMQ about Labour voting against a 2.1% pay rise for nurses. Ridiculous really - lying to distract from his admission that they had said before the pandemic that nurses would get twice what is now being offered.

Nope, not a U turn: just having an inquiry to take the decision past the conference date.

Our local council - Lincolnshire (Tory) - have said that they will not grant planning permission for any wind turbines on land but they will allow fracking!!

Latest news is that this government are hiking train fares but lowering flight charges.

Nice to see they are doing their bit for the environment.

Yeah, the problem with trying to make all protests illegal, is that if people believe strongly enough about something they will protest anyway and you then get that the clusterfuck that was yesterday where predominantly male police officers waded into a vigil held to highlight violence against women.

All day you had the Govt and Home Sec trying to stop a peaceful vigil within Covid guidelines and then act ’shocked’ when the police stomp in and start arresting women holding tealights and flowers.

The biggest danger to our society is the sheer stupidity and bigotry of the people in charge and the culture that enables this stupidity.

This is the horrible bit: The Home Secretary will have the power, through secondary legislation, to define and give examples of “serious disruption to the life of the community” and “serious disruption to the activities of an organisation which are carried out in the vicinity of the procession/assembly/one-person protest”.

All that needs is a horrible Home Secretary. Oh, wait...

As ths "noise" aspect can be by one person, I guess it would be one way to silence "Mr Brexit".

The government announced last year the largest defence spending programme in decades.. I'm guessing then that you were in favour of this?

Or actually are you in favour of the socialist Labour ideology which really is to erode defence?

This is absolute shite. The armed forces are being wound down and have been for the last decade. The new spending on ‘cyber warfare and advanced new aircraft‘ just covers up the fact that our army is running obsolete equipment and will be reduced to below 60k. Last time I looked we would be running less than ten frigates. RAF also taking a hit.

All of this is happening under a Tory Govt and the trend is still downwards and all you’ve got is some half baked drivel about ‘socialism’. Talk about blind loyalty to party, the stupidity is rotting peoples brains.

Was it spent on defence or on handing out contracts to mates and tory donors who'd once mentioned a passing interest in one day setting up a defence contracting company?

Real shame. I spent a year in Tanzania on a VSO placement. The most rewarding year of my life. Really felt like I was 'sharing skills, changing lives'. Criminal. Selfish. I'm alright Jack.

Agreed, and on a practical level it erodes British ‘soft power’ and influence. Our steady march to authoritarian isolationism continues apace.

Might as well be Hungary.

You should already know that two major defence procurement programmes affecting our employer were both cancelled by the Tories in 1986 and 2010. In both cases they just spent the same again on inferior US equipment instead, after development of the British alternatives was nearly complete. They have a long history of not supporting UK industry and handing money to the Americans instead.
