In many ways the media have brought this upon themselves - slavishly reporting political lies to curry favour for "access" to a point where the politicians find there are enough people prepared to accept whatever bullshit they are spouting that they no longer need the media to be their mouthpiece so they go over the media head straight to their followers via social media etc.

And yet when Labour proposed a mansion tax and when Brown raided the pension funds the Tory media ( and I dare say you and @Chippy_boy ) were apoplectic with rage.
Funny how principles are so easily disposed off when it suits.

I am still apoplectic. And seriously hoping / expecting this fucking about with cutting pension tax relief and raising mansion taxes etc gets knocked on the head by those with more sense.

If you want a fucked up economy with higher taxes, you vote Labour. You vote Tory for the very opposite. Sense will prevail I am sure and these silly tax rumours will not come to pass.

Doubtless you didn't even know that the maximum tax free pensions contributions for the very rich is only £10k a year anyway. Not the £40k you and I can put in. Budget rule number 3 - if you want to bring in somthing slightly unpopular, float somthing totally unacceptable and ditch it at the last moment. Your voting fodder in the commons will be so happy they will vote the slightly unpopular measure through.
