The fact is certain parts of the world have some people that wish us harm. There are risks involved and one should do the best they can. In this case the parents got asylum. Members of the family were on a watch list so it’s a pretty good example of how things can go wrong. Just saying he is English is infantile as an arguing point and it won’t do anyone any good.

A bomb isn’t racist nor has it a strong sense of morality that doesn’t consider consequences. It just kills every fucker in its path no matter their colour religion or mental state.

If those parents hadn’t got asylum those kids would be alive, if the secret services did a better job or had the tools to they would also have had a better chance. No easy options here.

This needn’t be about the Middle East or Islam. I would be more careful with certain countries just on the chances of an increase in crime. Russians as an example. Is it fair? No. Is it common sense? I would say so.

As we can’t trust this government to run a bath my confidence in them running a fair but vigorous vetting procedure is pretty low.

The family was at odds with Gadaffi, so they were political refugees I guess. Can’t say I know a great deal about the case. There are all sorts of grounds for rejecting asylum requests; that future generations may turn out bad isn’t one of them. I suspect Patel may try and change this. Genetic experimentation seems something she would be keen on. Probably involving twins.

The greater issue is not picking up on him prior to the bombing. He had been flagged to the authorities who didn’t give it the credence it merited, although, I appreciate that is easy to say in hindsight.

The argument about him being English pertained to the vetting of Afghan refugees settling here. The linking of the two did not apply in this case. This was pointed out and @Octavian had an emotional meltdown. There was snot and tears everywhere. Very unseemly.

The guy interviewed also states “the palace” and “the Royals” rather than the Queen anyway.
 
Hollinrake just put in an appalling performance on Newsnight…. Let the poor eat dirt… they don’t need an extra £20 a week to feed their children…. The government is skint… too busy providing stamp duty holidays to force up house prices….

It’s funny how Boris changed in the last year, he went from being a pound shop Churchill, well he wanted to be, to now being a softer liberal who wanted to move out of the pandemic in a “more gender neutral and feminine way”. seems to me to be straight out of his new wife’s mouth.

If the reports are true, which we don’t know, but if they are, then it’ll come to a head. The rest of the party will quickly grow tired of an unelected wag calling the shots.
