I don't see how increased defence spending is a political (right vs left) issue.

Are people on the left against defence spending? I.E, are you in favour of making hundreds of thousands of people (particularly in the NW) redundant not to mention the reduction in defence capability?

This view is why the Labour hard left and the unions are out of touch with the real working class.

I personally am very surprised they are increasing spending but any spending anywhere is more than welcome.
 
No mention on here about defence spending being reduced over the last 4 years. A friend of mine was a recruiter in this area and he was told to drastically reduce the number of new recruits for years because units had been amalgamated or disbanded.

Let's not forget it's the Tories that massively reduced defence spending during austerity ( a term now not be used in Tory circles).
Half of this latest expenditure just makes up what we've lost since 2010.
Also I thought the new idea was to spend more on cyber security than conventional defence, although was that the Dom's plan?
And finally a message to the Tories - come and brag about all this extra spend and making us the most prominent naval power in Europe again when you've actually done it rather than a claim based on figures on the back of a fag packet aimed at winning the news cycle for the next 24 hours and detracting from your Covid crisis.

Yes Johnson doesn't like the A word does he? He had use of the B word banned in number 10 too. There is a C word that a lot of people use when posting about him that he would probably be sick of too
 
Well being a civil servant , I can say they the members of the first division association ( names shows what they think of themselves) are the last I would expect to claim to have been bullied as that is they way they treat the vast majority of us . They are a bunch of useless **** who promote each other from their little click , have ZERO knowledge or the department they work for and as soon as they are shown to being useless move to another thanks to their friends

Yeah but the problem he has is they all know him and what he is like - they know the truth about the camping holiday - they know how bad Covid hit him and whether or not he really is fit as a butchers dog and they all came out to back Dom when he asked them to - they are all in hock to each other - all feel untouchable
