This pathetic culture war was started by one side to be fair.

It was already here under Cameron and he can’t exactly be accused of it, he’s essentially an Orange Book LibDem.

It’s snowballing every election the left loses, but it’s done by a minority of the left, I must add, those that don’t care much for economic gains, purely identity politics.

I don’t think it’s ever not been there, it’s just that we’ve now got a government that will look to actively push it.

It is what it is, I am concerned about the collateral damage of it though, the culture secretary’s discussion being a case in point. It’s in danger of sacrificing intellectual progression for the sake of political rhetoric.

The government wouldn’t have to do anything if the radical left didn’t start attacking every little thing about the country and calling everyone racist.

The public are sick of them and the government will just do what the public want, as the Tories always do to maintain power.

I am dubious about their reasons, I don’t think it’s a coincidence they’ve started doing it at the same time as getting the culture secretary to try and stop organisations from “rewriting history”.

It’s a very useful tool for the segue from the brexit boogeyman of the EU to the next one for them to go after, which will be the culture war and bringing patriotism into the debate more, which will be an even more depressing and disingenuous debate than the brexit one ever was.
