Body, murder weapon, confession and no factors that point to a partial defence or not fit to stand.

Innocent or guilty?

Do you insist on a trial at the end of cluedo before you declare the winner? :)

None of that is the point. If he used tax payers money to pay for lessons and took them it’s hard to see what he has done wrong. Unless he’s paid a mate to teach him - which I’m sure if that were the case that would be the story not “Polish born man takes Polish lessons”

I admit it haven't read into this, but am I missing something? Why should the taxpayer pay for his polish lessons?

if they'd just believed a guy claiming it was him, we'd have ended up with the wrong guy.

You can pin everything on a guy, but if he didn't actually do it, he didn't actually do it.

A guy on the street claiming he killed someone, despite the situation, still needs investigating.

You could make an argument in favour of it if it is part of their continued professional development and useful or likely to be useful for their job. Apparently such applications are considered on individual merits.

He claimed he could be helpful during the UK conducting trade negotiations because of his Polish language ability. Although it appears that he may have started the lessons after boasting and exaggerating his ability, so it was just to cover up his earlier overpromise.

There are two other issues, Poland as a member of the European Union doesn't conduct their own trade negotiations, and their representatives would probably speak at least one of the three procedural languages in the EU (and it is quite likely to be English).

Which means it seems to be primarily for self-advancement rather than performing a public service.

I'm sure he didn't vote to increase tuition fees and remove nurses bursaries. Otherwise he has now become a hypocrite whilst gaining educational opportunities at the tax payer's expense....
