The Conservative Party

You're just being silly now. Actually you were being silly before.

I was a Remainer, I voted Remain and I campaigned on here passionately for the referendum to be re-run so we could get a remain victory. It just became obvious that in the end, that wasn't going to happen and mates persuaded me (I think correctly, in hindsight) that the Brexit vote was democratic and had to be respected. I've never been a fan of Boris - in fact I think he's a berk. But I do accept that he got things done, and I think he was extremely unlucky with COVID biting him in the arse not long into government. And the outrage over Partygate was rank hypocrisy by all concerned since half the fucking country broke the rules, including Labour MPs.
"half the fucking country broke the rules, including Labour MPs " - you're talking through your arse mate unless you've got evidence to the contrary. Even if it were true, the PM is supposed to set an example and stick to the rules he set! FFS!
So what did he get done? The quick roll out of the vaccine I hear you parrot. So how come we've got circa 200k deaths, amongst the worst death rates in the world.
Wake up. Smell it.

How will inflation be brought down? The pound is tanking. Will the beneficiaries of the tax cuts not take advantage of higher interest rates rather than tricking it down? What is going to reduce in price to help?
Theoretically, demand destruction lowers prices. Lower prices reduce inflation.

This is a supply driven inflationary environment, so demand destruction seems to be the chosen path, given supply increases seem impossible.

The problem, of course, is that with Sterling taking it on the chin, imports are becoming increasingly more expensive. In an import economy, that’s working against inflationary pressures, but should also drive demand destruction as people put off the purchase or move down the price ladder.

Either way, it doesn’t bode well for Brits holding pounds.

Difficult to understand any support for the Tories. This is the party who lifted control on finance institutions bonuses. Said organisations promptly made millions betting against the pound resulting in the strong possibility of serious interest rate increases whilst we wait for anything near 1% on saving accounts. It's our money these cunts are using to make millions whilst tossing us peanuts. Wake up and realise we are being shafted.

We sneer at the French but if this was happening there, Paris would be burning tonight. We are far far too passive as citizens

Give up mate, hes a massive wum, youd have to be a massive fucking **** to back up this Tory government

With the crash of the pound against the dollar, the cost of oil is going to rise sharply again, so sadly I can't see inflation going anyway but up, and the BoE will feel compelled to act by raising interest rates yet again.
Higher costs of the mortgage or rent, higher cost of heating the home, higher cost of commuting to work and the cost of food going up as well.
Going to be a busy winter for the bailiffs
And ALL of that should destroy demand, no?

Clearly, in the absolute basic necessities that require importation, Sterling is your enemy. It’s time to start saving pennies, because they should be worth more in the future than they are now!

And, don’t get me wrong, I think Truss’ actions are ridiculous, because they are exacerbating the pain that is going to be felt by the man on the street.
