The Conservative Party

I hate the Tories as much as anyone on this thread but I don't mind seeing those who buy limited edition releases in bulk and then sell them at a massive mark-up having to pay tax.

It is odd though taxing those selling used goods. After all, they bought them with wages (net) and paid VAT. They could up paying more tax than the initial cost of the used item. In addition, it does not make sense as it reduces the re-using of goods..
My wife sells stuff on Vinted, and as far as I can work out it only ever sells for a fraction of what it cost new, so how can there possibly be a taxable profit?

If you selling a garment for £5 that you bought for £40 then you have made a tax loss of £35, not a profit, and so the government will not get any tax revenue or will maybe even have to pay you if you can set trading losses against any other income.

Aren’t these people the entrepreneurs of the future, what our liberal ways were built on, bringing that economic growth that the government keep telling us about?

No, this is the rich saying that we don’t want you lowlifes earning a penny extra than we want you to earn, leaving you in poverty where you belong.

Proper Dickensian rule, this is your government.

I am fairly certain that it is the "cottage industries" that are being "targeted" and those shipping in goods from Turkey etc for sale here (& it will also effect the "illegal factories" and those running a business from the back garden shed while claiming benefits

It seems to be an extension of an already stated aim - the Govt are looking to pry into the bank accounts of those on benefits to check they are not on the fiddle. This is now an extension of that looking into the affairs of the employed working and middle classes by HMRC and chasing people for "unpaid" tax. Its very much a desperate Conservative plan to reduce the cost of benefits and claw back as much tax as they can so they can knock a penny off income tax and boast about it.

Mean while Reet-Smug moves money off shore - Mone/Barrowman stick money in the IoM and Amazon and the rest pay fuck all - but they have zero interest in their tax affairs

meanwhile in Tory Britain

Careful now!
This will be called out by some as the politics of envy.
As if any rudimentary appreciation of human feelings wouldn’t tell you that living in a rat and mould infested hovel with a shared toilet, and working full-time and still not earning enough to live
and not being able to feed your kids while the rulers spend more on one lunch than you have for a month’s food budget, then of course you‘re fucking envious!
Not really the politics of envy, more the politics of division and fear and hate.
