Well the thread has served some purpose then, good shout. Still well worth making the effort to see live, this is their favourite song, one of my favourites too.

Well he's seen as much as anyone, so I'd be inclined to take his word for it.
Should of asked him about the fa cup semi, when he was crawling about on the floor after getting decked.

That's the nature of the game, anyone who's done as much as him over the years will have been on the deck at some point, doubt it bothered him that much.
Oh it did mate believe me.

Dunno about "cool" but fighting in gangs is certainly for pussies
Careful mate ! You'll be ostracised for that. How dare you have an opinion that isn't the same as some people who knew some other people who were in a gang and had some fights ? You'll have some brain-dead clown who knows nothing about you and has never met you calling you a liar next . You have been warned !

You can see that your natural tendency here has been to gravitate towards someone you feel has shown that similarities of opinion with your own.
You are forming the first bonds of a group with mutual aims.
You have been attacked, so have a natural desire to gather like-minded types around you.
A common outlook and safety in numbers to start with. But as more anti-gang gang members join, you will find that there is a wider consensus, with possibly more extreme views in how to make your case - then possibly a rogue element to your group.
One which rather than just defends the cause, takes pre-emptive strikes and gets your retaliation in first.
Its not unusual at this stage to feel a need to identify yourselves and your cause to like-minded types and others who oppose you - you select a name - you are the uncool codgers.
Lets have it.
Don't know how long that took you. Not a bad effort. Quite funny but you're just as far off the mark as the Cheetham hill bloke. He hasn't got the point of what I've been saying either. Although one person did send me a private message saying they agreed with me, and that they understood that it wasn't so much the violence that went on as the general back-slapping and self-congratulatory attitude which is prominent in this thread, that makes me cringe. As if being involved in fights or knowing someone else who was involved is some kind of achievement ! Oh well it takes all sorts.

You weren't there in the 70's though so how can you comment? These are memories which cannot be erased mate.

You were with your Mum and Dad whilst we were shitting ourselves sometimes at aways in the 70's.

The fact that we were involved or know those involved does not mean we are glorifying stabbing people, slashing people or jumping on lads who didn't want to know. Most of the time it was self defence (your honour)

It's all ancient history mate. Just sayin.

Why is it upsetting you so much?

All the "fighting" comments are hilarious.

If you wanna fight you climb through the ropes. If you wanna mince along with a bunch of like minded chavs, spot a bunch of opposing chavs, shout obscenities while unaccountably bouncing on the spot, advance and attempt a girly kick or "punch" then kick fuck out of whichever enemy chav has had the misfortune to fall first then you're a "cool cat" I guess.

Brilliant.

I don't remember it being like that at all... you another one who wasn't there. jesus h navas

That description sounds much more like something from recent times.

Also most of the lads I knew were into Boxing.....Donald was into Thai boxing I think.

Kick boxing was very popular as well. We used to train at the Martial arts centre on Deansgate.
