The cool cats

As I said earlier in the thread the definitive spelling is in the book Guv'nors by Mickey Francis. One of the early chapters is about the first gang he was in,which was formed by his older brother Donald.
Has anybody still got the book to check and give the final undisputed answer.
scroll back a few photos might help

I was but a freckled faced youngster back then in awe of the older Guys.7 ,or 8 stone wet through. Dont know where it all went wrong looking at my waist line.

I remember a huge fight at the old Whalley Hotel with the Rags outside.

Also an epic battle taking place with Newcastle fans outside the Kippax. Where the odd lot just fucked up off and left everyone to it.It ended up carrying on Horton, and Thornton Road. With Gates going through peoples windows etc.Cars turned over.I thought the Newcastle fans back then were Batshit crazy.
I am sure that MF mentions this in his book. City met up at the Whalley and marched to Old Trafford ,battling with United fans all the way.

I gave you the undisputed answer earlier this week when I posted a poster written by Donald Francis calling them Cool Cats.

Love the cool cats name . Great name for a very good firm

There’s no such thing as a “good firm”.

They’re thugs who ruin it for everyone else. Their sub-culture our families off going to football for a generation.

The ultimate proof.

I will have to get hold of this book and have a read.

I have just read a book by Mark Ward "Right Wing to B Wing "............pretty appropriate title :-)

Our little crew used to hire minibuses and vans from Salford Van Hire. We always had to make sure that they were unsign written ones though.
Imagine driving through Birmingham, Bristol,Liverpool or Newcastle with SALFORD VAN HIRE all over the side of the van.
The windows would have lasted about 2 minutes as we got near the ground.
Might have got away with it in Leeds as SVH have a branch there.
Leeds lads made the mistake of driving past the Sherwood in a Salford Van hire mini-bus.
It was duly smashed up and turned over!
