Tbf Bill Gardner,another stalwart of the ICF said in his book that a visit to Maine Road was one of the toughest tests that they faced. Particularly pre 1989 . Before the Guvnors were locked up.

As I'm a lot younger than most on this thread, sorry lads, West Brom away 1987 springs to mind as an absolutely crazy away day. Only fifteen at the time but the car dancing on a dark November night after the match was a sight to behold. West Brom lads didn't know what had hit them that day.
