The Courteeners

Where there any Rag references when they did Not 19 forever?

None whatsoever. That's 3 times I've seen them now and Liam Fray hasn't mentioned United at all. People need to get it into their heads that it was United that took it upon themselves to adopt the song. Fray and the band haven't driven this at all.

There were fans of both clubs in attendance last night but there were also plenty of Mancunians there that follow them and don't have any interest in football.

Fucking class tonight.

Have you showered the piss off you yet?

Not quite haha but it was worth it.

Top gig. Not quite as mental as Blackpool in March but not far off it.

Plenty of Blues there last night, a chant of Blue Army broke out around me at the top
of the steps next to the mixing desk.
Rev and Makers on before (who were brilliant) John Mclure working the audience.
Any United fans here, big cheer, any City fans here, cheer nearly as big.
As posters had said red flares there but also Blue smoke bombs.
Saw 2 lads in City shirts as well.
People need to get it out of there head that they are a Rag's band.
Sure Liam was a ball boy at OT and supports them but he doesn't mention them
or pander to Rags fans.
People should take them for what they are another in the line of great Manchester Bands.
Also Liam is a pretty nice guy as well.

I understand your point but its slightly different. Its not that I dont like them because the bellend of a lead singer is a rag, I still enjoy their music. I simply could never bring myself to go and watch them especially in Manchester. Anyone that sees them will know what I mean. When they drop not nineteen forever it will go off imo. Hope im wrong for all blues going because as I say music wise I like them

it used to 'go off' to that song years ago before the United reference. as far as I know liam is a typical united fan, never goes and the others also don't care about football or are oldham fans. its just United fans trying to jump on a decent band because we have oasis, doves, Johnny marr, badly drawn boy, the fall and they have simply red. courteeners are not and never will be a United band just like the stone roses aren't but they claim they are a United band haha

United fans clung on to not nighteen forever in reference to their titles. The courteeners then whored themselves to United playing for them at either Fergies last home game or at the parade or both I can't remember.

Not nineteen forever has been banned in many places in town on nights out because of it kicking off and stuff and now being labelled as a football song. It would then make matters worse that the lead singer is a typical rag and will latch onto it.

As I say I hope I'm wrong and anyone who goes today ( I think the gigs today) enjoys it. Especially blues.

What utter bollocks you two speak.

Actually he isn't a particularly nice guy at all. Despite the fact that the group are a gang of mates, Fray takes all the song-writing credits and the other lads (despite being involved in the creative process) are effectively just session musicians. Mark my words, this is an increasing cause of friction within the group all will eventually lead to them splitting up. You heard it here first.

I went Saturday, had a class night.

Only reference that may have been to football that I saw was the red flare and the blue smoke bomb, may not have been tho.

One daft **** threw a flare onto the stage, nearly setting fire to the drums.

Liam's Twitter yesterday said something along the lines of "best two nights I've had in this band", which to me reads as "but in other bands I've had better", maybe I'm just being a cynic.

Second time I've seen them, and they were better than the last time, def would go see them again.

To be honest the rest of them probably dont want to be credited with them songs, the shame of it

I agree the songs are sit....... but as the rest of the lads in the band are just classed as performers on recordings and don't get any song-writing credit they just receive a flat fee (at the rate of a session musician) whilst Fray takes all the song-writing royalties. This despite the fact that the whole band are part of the creative process. Fray is just a huge ego and his failure to "credit the entire band" will split the band and it will happen very soon. Mark my words

He's just been presenting awards at my daughters school. He seemed ok. Handed free tickets out and stayed behind for a while.

Football doesn't matter when it comes to music, in my opinion. I loved the first album but not much since.
