TheMightyQuinn - A very good point well said.

One thing I dislike about some fans of the 'top 4' is there arrogance with regards to their own club and players. I would hate for City fans to turn out like this and start getting a rep for constantly moaning about the fact that our midfield is sh*te with barry, swp, ireland & robinho!!! - c'mon and get a grip. Barry and Ireland are arguably two of the best midfielders in the prem. We should enjoy it. CTID

if it wasnt tevez coming from the rags it probably wouldnt be a wankathon as you say.

kaka/messi excluded.

as it is, we havent had a striker capable of scoring goals like him since anelka, and we always knew he didnt really want to be here. i dont think for one minute tevez has the natural skill anelka does, however the way he throws himself about akin to dickov, and dare i say it, gets in the face of the opposition like bellamy, is just the type of player that will be adored here. hes got the bust a gut type atitude of the journeyman and a fair amount of goal scoring prowess and skill to go with it. alright hes a fucking midget, but weve been wank at set pieces for years and im sure we will address this with another striker.

im not saying hes the missing link to break the top 4, but if we had had a striker that chipped in with 15 goals this season and his work ethic, as opposed to big phils blundering 'endeavour', bejanis smiling 'endeavour', bellamys treatment room 'endeavour' and sturridges come and get me chelsea half arsed efforts then we would likely have been in europe next season, if not polishing the uefa cup. i think thats the difference a player like him will make.

this coupled with the fact we will be swiping him from our most hated rivals from down the road is probably contributing massively to this steaming mushroom of bullshit on here. not too mention the international break has aside from kaka created a vacuum of solid information from credible sources.

i would doubt there has been more than a couple of actual bonafide in the know posts on here about the whole fucking thing, unfortunately, human nature and the anonymous and unnacountale nature of an internet forum means people will continue to post streams of bullshit until such a time that something offical happens. at which point all those who loosely claimed to be an itk friend of garry cooks aunties dogs hairdressers accountant etc will bask in the 'glory' of there nostradamus like prediction. and those that guessed wrong will be vilified.

the signing of barry hasnt helped either. too quick an announcement, fucked if you dont fucked if you dont.

i do think there should be a threshold of fifty posts before you can start a new thread, maybe not for upstairs, but in here theres got to be. at that point youll have been here long enough to know that starting another thread is just cuntish.

and the mods should be merging more. all mods should have a licene to merge on sight. that will slow the cnuts down.

We sign Gareth Barry, out of nowhere, a player who ticks all the boxes of what we need in midfield, 2 years back this would have been cause for celebration but these days it's met with 'he's alright, not as good as Messi though, he'll do as a squad player if we must I suppose' as we all eagerly wait for a new thread to appear started by a liar who will claim we're going to sign some mega superstar the likes of which we've never seen.

Whoever Hughes signs will dissapoint 90% of people who frequent this place. Unless we sign a thoroughbred, glamorous, celebrity, world star our fans no longer want to know.

If Hughes can't sell mid table trophy less City to Eto or Kaka then the problem is obviously him and not our standing in English/Euro/World football.

We've got Ireland, for me a true star, yet we'd much rather wank over someone we've never heard of outside of computer games as they've got a cool single name and will cost 50m at least.

I foresee a pre season of bitching and moaning as Hughes signs players who can do a job and are happy to sign for a club like us. I don't think an extra 10k a week will sell many players on the idea of MCFC, if you earn 100k a week then why would it?

I'm not advocating a loss of ambition of hope but I do think a lot of you need a reality check where transfers are concerned.

If Tevez doesn't sign for us, I don't think he will, I expect a mass uproar and outrage on here as all perspective is lost once again and we blame Hughes and/or Cooke for not being able to lure him here.

Me, I'm grateful for what we have, this time last year we had very little to be excited about, we now have Robinho, Ireland, SWP, De Jong etc all looking to raise us to the next level. It's a slow process, I expect us to challenge for top 6 this season, no higher, and I'm quite happy with that.

Ok so a lot of you lot felt that Dabo and Corradi were enough to raise Pearce's blues to top 6 but that just shows that a lot of people are deluded.

AMEN FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A BIT OF SENCE.Gaz Baz is a top buy and cant wait to see him in a blue shirt (btw i had a £5er on him other night for first goal for england just because hes now a blue haha). i mean iv just been arguing on another forum with someone that thinks david villa to city is a done deal and hes costing us 85 million dont wanna piss on his party but he needs his f***in head lookin at.

What we need are players that will role their sleeves up and drag this club out of 30 years of negative shit, inside and out and to be honest it doe'snt matter if they are a £60 million player or £10 million pound player. It just needs to happen eventually!!!

You know, that's something that's been plaguing me since I came here (admittedly only a number of weeks ago). I could have sworn that the identity of this club used to be summarised by "Typical City" - that half-humorous and half-realistic anecdote about how City seemed to be a confusion of achieving unexpected successes only to top them off with humiliatingly woeful performances straight afterwards. I thought the reason that we were "everyone's favourite misfits" was because we looked at everything from a sideways angle, and downright expected us to screw up any given situation totally, only for us the fans to laugh at it and shrug with a "we'll do it better next time" attitude. We were the team which consistently broke attendance records for the third tier because the way that we had somehow found ourselves there was as much a part of the club's identity as the fact that we are from Manchester. And yet now everyone seems to think that, because we have a bit of cash, we should have the right to moan and whinge because we didn't win a trophy last season. We haven't won a trophy for 34 years, and I'd happily laugh and call it Typical City if we bought a World XI and failed to win another trophy for the next 34.

I hate to say it, but the way that people here seem to be talking about signings and performances reminds me of the way that plastic fans behave...

Tin hat on.

I've always despised any set of fans who believe they have a god given right to win anything/everything on a yearly basis, some of our fans on here are developing this attitude way too prematurely for my liking. I'll wait until we can win 3 games away from home before I think we have a god given right to Kaka, Messi and a trophy.

top, top post. In fact I'm not coming on here (Transfer Forum) again, it's full of twats posting bollocks about Villa or resurrecting old threads about SWP that have people who can't read the date wetting their knickers.

Give this post a sticky imo, people coming on here and saying RSC and the like are not good enough for city is nothing short of a disgrace. We finished 10th in the league and the ONLY thing we can offer is money and ambition. Other clubs can offer CL football. Sometimes im disgusted with what i read on here.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!

The minute we signed Barry i rang my mate and said that is the best signing we will make all summer. There maybe a world famous player on his way and just like Robinho i will be excited to imagine what he can produce for us. These players though, do not bring guaranteed success and are not just bragging rights against our rivals.

What Barry did more than anything, is to let us fans know we are being run by people who know what they are doing. How long since we could say that about City...

I'm not gonna slag off people getting carried away by the names being linked with us, its exciting times and its not like we're used to this..

Hopefully once the summer's over we can get behind our amazing club as one and lift the roof off COMS...
