Is that your scientific opinion or you just going against the grain ?

The lad's right though.

In your and his opinion, yes.
Me and my mates disagree, we often talk about typical City over a few beers or travelling to and from games.

It's a concept that no longer exists.

We are not that quaint, hard done to club that everybody had as their second team.

We are a top European side that is going to win the EPL.

He's right. Every club who have fluffed things think they have a "typical" tag. The term "typical Newcastle" is more widely used outside City fans than any other "typical" tag (where Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham have had the term used on them too). The only typical thing is that we weren't good enough or were shit.

His second part of the post is also spot on.

His second part isn't spot on at all, feeling pressure, really ?
Yes. Many Blues can't handle the pressure. It really shows on this forum with some of the shit that's posted at times.

Blaming others for our downfalls
Saying they can't face the title run-in
Saying they are giving up all hope because a few referee decisions went against us
Saying they will give up on football if United win the league
= People not handling the pressure!

City v the rags...

City are awarded a penalty in the last minute to win the game...

Would you trust Tevez to take it???

I wouldn't!!

1. He's a shit penalty taker (must have missed his last five!)
2. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him (how much does he weigh?)

What is typical City?

As I understand it, in broad terms it has been the ability of our club to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and vice versa over the course of our history, and most especially over the last 30 years, since Luton '83 I guess.

That hardly marks us as unique in the sporting arena down the ages. What distinguishes our typical moments from other clubs is that there has been more of them, but this isn't down to some inherent DNA within the club, it was merely a by product of instability brought about by years of chronic mismanagement. This lead to ups and downs which accentuated the sense of unpredictability that you wouldn't get at Everton, for example.

To suggest that Manchester City Football Club is hardwired to fuck up is absurd. I realise that supporting City down the years makes you question logic at times, but applying that principle to our football club can only lead to the conclusion that "typical City" is merely a construct of City fans to explain our underachievement and possibly give us solace that our lack of success was due to influences beyond human control during the "dark times".

We will still do unpredictable things - that is the nature of sport - but they will become much less frequent because the club is in such safe hands now.

A lot of City fans are findingit hard to rid themselves of that mindset though.

I think a lot of people dont want to lose that and accept the new way of thinking as it would be an admission that we have changed.
