Pretty much the same story is running in the Mirror and other outlets — though each subtly rewritten to suit the bias and agenda of the individual news organisations and their particular editors.
For example, the Daily Mail went with the church bells angle. They wanted to show us in the worst possible light, portraying us as arrogant, demanding and spoilt.
Yet prominent in the Mirror's version of the same story is the fact that the players are woken at 6.30am each day — before the bells would start to ring even on a normal day.
The Daily Mail curiously chose not to mention this fact — presumably because it didn't fit their preconceived agenda of trying to portray our players as prima donnas.
As for the rest? City make a huge financial investment in the health and performance of some of the best players in the world. And then choose to protect that very investment though sound diet and sleeping arrangements. In other words, a complete non-story.
