The Detectives: Fighting Organised Crime

MVITA - brings back some great memories. Remember driving him to a gig somewhere in North Manchester only for him to remember just before we arrived that he had left his gear (the music sort) back in Didsbury! He was also a pretty good footballer. Turned out occasionally for the Manor House.

Just watching it now, unbelievable stuff. Scum like this should be locked up till they're old men. Drugs are destroying this country.

The war on drugs has and continues to be an enormous failure. Lots of ex police and undercover drugs officers agree but successively governments aren't brave enough to change policy. It also makes a very good living for the whole judicial system.

No worries pal. I was an Old Moat lad and then Wilbraham, Paul was something of an enigma, one of the brightest lads I knew, wagged virtually all of the 4th year and half of the 5th. The school, or whoever, forced him to sit his mock O levels and he did better than half of us who'd barely missed a day. Last seen working in Timpson's on Market St and I've always hoped he had a good life!
The owner of Timpsons, Sir John, is a big Blue who employs a lot of ex cons to help in their rehabilitation, it's a good company to work for, staff are not allowed to work on their birthday amongst other conditions. I heard him on Desert Island Discs a few years ago, really good listen if you have half an hour to spare, it's the truncated version with only about 30 seconds of each disc, that's a bonus because his music choice was a bit shit!!

Frightening watching this now. Some sick people about.
The Kidnap and prolonged torture of a man with a hammer and blowtorch and he will only serve four years. I think the head honcho received 19 years due to involvement with a firearm. Not a murmer out of the second AV and all he said was "Is it bad". His feet were shattered with hammer blows and his big toe looked like it was hanging off making for a harrowing nights viewing.

Prohibition pretty much built organised crime in the states. After the Volstead act was repealed, opiate use was then criminalised..a new consumer driven demand created. Fked if i know the solution...
Thinking on...several countries have legal prostitution...another big organised crime earner...I wouldn't say that industry has cleaned itself up?

Legalise them all. Get the taxes, kill the underworld hold and regulate the standard of drug.
I have argued against this for years. Yes legalise but don't tax it. Look at cigarettes, because of the tax there is huge evasion done by criminals, carousel fraud, importation of real (and) fake cigs in fact anything to make money illegally.
Give Boots the licence to sell it with no tax

The lad who got 19 years (Evers?) Was definitely not the leader of the gang. It was Paris's dad but Evers looked like he was a patsy and was told or bullied in to taking the brunt the charges for the rest of the gang.

Absolute stupidity from the lad to keep the gun hidden under his bed

You only have to look at the matches over the last 12 months to see there loons of a wide variety of political persuasions
No idea what that has to do with the original point being made about dangerous prisoners in Custody threatening emergency service workers, while not bring handcuffed.

I can’t imagine the coppers taking pictures with dead murder victims were very left wing (but they might be).
Despicable no doubt. But again nothing to do with the topic being discussed and i bet you have no idea of their political persuasion anyway. While we know for sure Labour voted against protecting emergency service workers! And the loony left want to defund the police. Bonkers doesnt cover it!!

Maybe is contributes to a feeling of resentment against coppers. Hopefully, most peole see that most coppers are doing a good job.

Focussing on the first episode, many peole won’t lose any sleep about notorious thugs taking out notorious drugs dealers. I guess most people having got 34k in cash lying around in case of an emergency

The vast majority of Coppers are doing a great job.

People will potentially lose sleep,as has already been discussed in the 13 pages prior,as shit rolls down hill, and the wider consequences and ramifications of such actions can be far reaching and possibly life altering.

I agree with you about most coppers and I said as much.

Regarding drug dealers getting a kicking, sometimes the knock on affects are harmful and other times they have a positive spin off. Some drug dealers got a kicking at the bottom of my road a month ago. It’s been very quiet since then.

In the past there have been dominant crime 'families' in Manchester..and although taxing still happened it was at a lesser scale...this appears to have escalated as there are no 'Mr Bigs' on the plot. This is either a good or bad thing. Police operations in the gunchester era cleared out a whole middle tier creating a disconnect between the top end older strata. who made money and got out...and the younger end left with no boundaries or restraints.
Lets be careful out there.

Went to primary school with Darren Berkeley.

Was a rum little **** even at that age and it's no surprise he ended up as he did.

Buller is part of the same mob as Alphonso and Fidel who were both boys about town when I was growing up. Went on to become major faces on the Madchester / rave scene.

Yep, I have come across Berkeley, a right rum **** even in his early teenage years, giving it the big one.

Had a run in with him when I was about 17, and him giving it 'don't you know who I am?' Thankfully I used to play football with him a bit when he was much younger, so probably a lucky escape, seemingly!

He always had his little group of cunts going around and saying they were 'with' Berkeley.

It was a great watch and will look forward to episode two.
