The deterioration of Blue Moon

Great, Bluemoon Kindergarten. Just what we need.

What a few members really crave is a knitting circle, where they can sup cider from teacups and trill about how witty and blue they all really are while ultimately going cross-eyed as they produce something ugly, ill-fitting, dated and rather irritating to the skin.

Possibly threads designed to encourage lengthy debate too would be useful. Like, how about a challenge for Bluemooners to watch a Romanian league match steam and discuss the players/teams on show. It would be interesting or at least funny. ;)

Oh, I like this idea! An official-looking 'Today's Issue' thread would add a bit of structure to the main board, whilst maybe expanding our discussions into areas where we might not usually go. I think that too many threads are Best/Worst-style, and they're just lists (of people's favourite City striker, or our worst signing, or our best manager, etc etc forever). I appreciate that it might mean a little bit more work for the mods, though.

It needn't be overly serious, but each such 'launchpad for debate' needs to be well thought out too. Something like 'With the signing of Romelu Lukaku, is City moving towards an Arsenal-style process of global youth recruitment? Is this a bad thing? Should some measure of positive discrimination (in favour of English/Mancunian youngsters) be put in place as a counter-balance?'

That's the first thing I could think of (and it's shite), but you get the gist. If the Issue of the Day (or Week, whatever) was stickied, visitors to the site would immediately see that we were an erudite and deepthinking bunch, and like-minded souls would stick about.

There should be subforums with access restrictions. The Champions League will only be accessible to the four percent who've proven themselves as elite posters - this is not necessarily restricted by post count or join date, DD for instance would surely qualify. The Premier League should be inhabited by the next sixteen percent and so on, until we're left with the tubthumpers, binary thinkers and Big Mouths Small Brains (BMSBs) in the Conference. Good/improving posters will be rewarded with promotion and vice versa with relegation.

What a few members really crave is a huddle of emperor penguins, all sitting on their precious single eggs, hunched against the howling winds and chattering about how witty and really blue they all are.

15,000 + post only forum.

Why do posters post on a thread to tell everyone they disapprove ? 'oh dear' for example; why waste your time ?

PMSL!!!! I'd volunteer to run an EDS too, for posters with potential to make it big.

Sepp and Michel would approve of this!

If you find a poster who you dislike, find they dont add anything, are just sick of them etc there is the "Foe" button. Ive never used it but its there for this reason.

Hello.....anyone...hello??

I'm no way computer savvy but perhaps what might be an idea to consider is a forum for new posters where you have to do a kind of probationary period. That is the mods would be able to view the style and substance of posts before new joiners be able to post on the main forums. At least this might make people more aware of the CofC and then once a level of posts have been attained and adherence to the CofC established it may improve the situation. Other than that i'm afraid people do begin to think that their view is the right view and other peoples opinions don't count and are irrelevent. As you can testify from my joining date and number of posts i'm fairly new to the forum myself but when posting i've deliberately been non confrontational and tried to add to the debate but then again that might just be me. At the end of the day if you don't agree say the reasons why not just post FFS or some other crass acronym, now that might help.

I was born in Manchester, I live in Manchester, I will die in Manchester.

I live City, I dream City, I breath City.

I was born a City fan into a family of City fans. I am named after Michael Summerbee.

I have 6,000 loyalty points. I can't remember the last time I missed a domestic game home or away. I watch City abroad in both competitive European games and pre season friendlies.

I have watched City in the third division. I have watched City compete for silverware.

I am by no means a wealthy individual. City is my life and in the hierarchy of what's important to me City always comes out at the top. Only my health and my children are of greater importance and even then I have risked my health and let down my children for the club I love.

In no particular order I have little or no time for people on BM who:

Have chosen (for whatever reason to support City) and then have the nerve to slag them off.

Have chosen to live outside Manchester and then complain that they can't get to games.

Don't go to games then whinge when they can't get a ticket for the Swamp and other important fixtures.

Don't go to games and then claim to be an authority on a particular matter or incident just because they have heard some so called pundit say it or have seen it from 20 different camera angles.

Think they are better or more knowledgable than me just because they have clocked up more posts than I have, forgetting that whilst they are furiously banging away on their keyboard whilst watching the game on TV, I am freezing my nuts off at the game.

Have an opinion about something that they haven't witnessed first hand, especially when they believe to be more informed than someone who was actually there.

Moan when things don't go our way when haven't suffered first hand, the indignity of watching City play a completive league game at Macclesfield, seen us lose to Lincoln, stood and watched in silence as Paul Lake struggled for his life.

Criticise Roberto Manchester when they haven't witnessed first hand a completive game under Frank Clark, Alan Ball, Phil Neal (to name but three)

Criticise Garry Cook when they haven't experienced life under Peter Swales.

Slag off players during the game like Jo yet haven't heard of Lee Bradbury or Carl Griffiths.

Make light of Munich without realising the true impact it had on Manchester

I could go on.

Bluemoon is good at what it does but I’m afraid to say we will never live in harmony whilst there is such disparity between the various groups of fans.
