The downside to the internet

The internet has brought social interaction into the home which allows us to do it in a much more pissed up state than if we had to go out in public. Whereas this may be mildly amusing on forums and such sites, I do think it is a major problem with things like gambling and shopping websites.

I'd never considered the gambling expect as I don't really gamble (I have enough vices) but it must be so easy to sit around pissing away endless amounts of cash.

There is a way to set daily limits with individual bookmaker sites but this usually takes place after some pissed up loser (i.e. me ) has placed a huge bet on some ludicrous outcome at massive odds.

Pub quizes are ruined following the ease at which information is available and the availability of the internet on hand held devices

Unless you go to a decent one where you're not allowed on your phone for the duration of the quiz.

They always say that but how is it managed? There are some decent prizes on offer with some pub quizzes and people will go out of their way to cheat. You could get 10 answer on your phone in the time it takes you to walk in a toilet and walk back out

I went to one in that there London and you couldnt even go for a piss. It was £10 entry too! I think if anyone was caught cheating they would be killed

The other side to this argument is people like myself that live over three miles from the nearest bookies, I used to have to get the bus into town to do my footy bet, then wait to the next bus to get back home, or risk driving which on a Saturday morning was not worth the risk of either being still over the limit or getting stuck behind the 15 mph saturday shopper, now if not going to the game, can just dander downstairs, put the pooter on, and by the time I have made a cuppa, can sit and read the papers and place a bet without having to leave the house, then watch the games online.
With regards to the social media sites, I find them very useful for sharing photos of days out with relatives in Australia or other people I have been away with, booking online trains flights etc, checking to see if they are ontime, what facilities a place has to offer.
Even without the porn I think it is one of the greatest inventions
