The Eddie McGoldrick paradox

Parlane was a bit like the Negredo of his era, great for 6mths then tailed off. Decent signing on a free at the time

Thanks, I am right in thinking he was quite a big name in football of that time?

Just had a look on wiki and 20 goals in 48 appearances. Pretty impressive.

Will youtube that
It was fun and games afterwards. I took a lad with me I was at University with, a wolves fan from Banbury, the City Leeds fighting took him somewhat by surprise it’s fair to say. Given he was recovering from a broken neck at the time he has every right to be nervous!

Did you manage to find it? All I can remember, apart from the fighting, was we were one nil down in the last few mins, than Tolmie I think (the player, not the Blue Noon poster) equalised, and then DP got a very late winner. The song was then Thank You Very Much for Derek Parlane (old scaffold tune)

Peter beardsley

I have said this before in a similar thread, this was a bad time for me, lots of drinking etc.

Beardsley was being linked with a return to CUFC as coach/manager and I was looking in his bio and noticed that he had played for us, I was shocked that I just had no recollection of this happening at all.

No, sadly. Saw a couple of beauties against Swansea.

He had a good bit of success with Rangers and played for Scotland so would have been a fairly big name in Scottish football. Moved to Leeds who were in a bit of a mess early 80s and it didnt really work out. Arrived with Tomle and Mcnab in summer '83 after we'd been relegated and were skint.

Beardsley played a few games on loan for us from Bolton. He was getting on a bit and past his best but has the unusual distinction of playing for both Manchester and merseyside teams. Still think hed have been a good signing for us when liverpool sold him to everton.
