The end of chip shop gravy?

The chippy near me where I grew up used to open on Christmas Day and have queue out the door just for their gravy for Christmas dinner.
Bet it was decent gravy then and not just water and gravy granules.

It's not difficult to make a decent gravy even without proper beef stock. Water, a few beef oxo's seasoning, a carrot or two, onion, any other spare veg that makes decent stock, like sprouts, broccoli.

Honestly haven't tasted a half decent chippy gravy in years, so go the curry sauce route now.
