The End of on Street Parking within walking distance of the Etihad

Coming from the Oldham side, I’d like to think they’ll put free buses onto take us back to the tram stops on the Oldham line (Monsall or Central Park).

I wait with bated breath!
I do that trek from time to time too.

The walk isn’t the issue, it’s who‘s on the tram!

On the plus side City have put in a huge bike shed at the bottom of Mercer way, each time I’ve gone past there’s one bike in it! Can just see me cycling 7 miles in the pissing rain at night to go to the match and then back!

Saw a post on twitter yesterday that double yellows have started being painted on
Riverpark road and bank bridge road, behind Philips park cemetery.
maybe the fun begins before christmas
Most of the stewards park there as well, so fuck knows where the staff will park because there’s only a limited amount at City, when the arena opens there will be less, it’s a complete fuck up, that area has zero residents I don’t see this issue at all.

I’ve never walked it - and don’t intend to, looks a bloody lot longer than walking back into town which I do if not driving - I just think it’d help with the dispersement of people before/after the game if they put free buses onto other tram stops (Monsall/Central Park)/ different tram lines ie the Oldham line.

The lack of joined up thinking from the council/arena/club is staggering. I’m not talking about putting someone on the fecking moon ffs!

Attitude seems to be ‘build it, they will come.’

How the feck they get there n back home, they don’t give a shite about.

I’ve been hoping for a shuttle bus running up to Central Park (Oldham line) and then onto Queens Road (Bury line) for years. Just don’t think it will happen. I’ve done that walk up to Central Park, catching a tram back into Victoria then up to Bury and we were quite quick, maybe quicker than queuing at the stadium. It is a distance for some though.

It’s about the same as to town. Takes about 25 mins.

It’s what happens to the parking prices when the arena opens that worries me. I’ve tried public transport to the match and it is too slow, too uncomfortable, too unreliable and too expensive. It has zero benefits versus driving for our group, but I think parking charges will rocket when there’s an event on and spaces will be sparse. We’ll have to see what solutions the club and TfGM come up with but I’m really not expecting much.
I usually drive but the one or two times a season when I have a beer make our way into town then we get an Uber. Drop off and collect outside the ground so no walking. Between 4 of us it’s very affordable.

Getting back is an issue when your bike isn’t there, stolen during game.

It's the Co-Op Arenna that has brought this on. 20-25 days of 3hrs of parking versus 250+ days of afternoon and evening parking. Yes we know the best thing to do is to ensure come April there is a Metrolink running doubles every 6 minutes and a fleet of buses from City Centre to the Co-Op / Etihad.

That's not what we will get though. First clash of City and the Co-Op, expect Carnage
First clash is the last game of the season, especially if it's a trophy presentation

Checked it out early doors, definite restrictions now in place. Double yellow lines down one side of River Park Road. Fully parked on the opposite side. Briscoe Lane, one side available, but I'm sure all places will be taken by now. Get your brain in gear for some alternative travel.
