The End of on Street Parking within walking distance of the Etihad

I'd put it slightly different. They settled the last round of strikes by giving them more money but they did not address Sunday working. Now the drivers have enough money they don't do the overtime on a Sunday, they don't need to.
Sunday working should have been integrated as part of the settlement, it wasn't and the result is a shite service.
I don't think that is true. I'm told that drivers have an agreement to work Sundays now. Roughly £500 a shift, depending on how many hours they need them for obviously, and they have more than enough volunteers to cover any work. It's the guard's they cant get to work Sunday's and haven't an agreement with.

Then sort out the public transport then twats
Don't forget that when Manchester made the bid for the Commonwealth Games they promised a tram service to the ground to get spectators to the events.
Liars.
It was 11 years before it was built so dont expect any improvements this side of 2030/35

Didn’t John Prescott divert the funds that where promised for the tram to Hull transport in a desperate bid for votes

I can't remember. I wouldn't put it past any politician to do such a disgraceful thing. That said I can't see anything on Google.
I think it was a straight out lie by Manchester Council and the Commonwealth lot.

From the City Centre Transport Strategy document they explicitly say that they want to significantly reduce car use in Manchester City centre and part of the way they will do that is to make car travel in the city centre more difficult.
From the same document...

"It is estimated that up to 12,500 spaces could be gradually removed from the inner city centre parking supply, as improved sustainable travel options are created. There is an overall planned reduction in off-street car parking in the city centre area through planned redevelopment of car parking sites. It is estimated that 12,500 spaces could be removed from the parking supply, which will free up space for other uses."

There have been big improvements in bus travel in Manchester but the heavy rail national network I think is worse than ever. There are extensions planned for the tram network but what about getting into Manchester and Greater Manchester?

They've completely messed up Deansgate - cycle lanes that are never used. It will mean less and less people bother going into Manchester. We regularly go to gigs and they're usually last minute where we have to drive in - as soon as that becomes too difficult we'll call it a day

I think similarly.

When they made the changes to Deansgate they told local residents that the measures were designed to reduce car travel. They are very upfront about the idea of switching travel from cars to foot, bikes, bus and train but this will only work if there are improvements in bus and train.

In my experience, which is very limited, I see improvements to bus travel but no changes to the trains. The national train network is imo appalling. The trains are comfortable enough but the availability is poor and they are expensive. That for me is where the investment needs to go. I am aware of some engineering works e.g., Trans Pennine Upgrade but much more needs to be done.

Don't worry, in 2024, sorry I mean 2014 George Osbourne created a Northern Powerhouse scheme as soon as that is implemented we will rival London.
Another phrase used is 'levelling up', wow, I can't wait. It was first mentioned in 2019 so....... any day now.

I’m waiting for all that money to trickle down into my bank account from them lovely million/billionaires, also waiting for a BJ from the wife, non of these will ever happen either.

Got turned away from Vermillion Car Park today, was told it’s prebook only on Citys website.

Had to drive up to Chapter st to park, missed first 20 mins.

Won’t travel by car again, much more likely to bin season ticket off in future.

I have noticed that the hire bikes are becoming more popular. Every time I walk back, I see people under Nexen bridge unlocking the bikes. They don't tempt me because I don't fancy weaving through traffic and people but I am glad to see that some people have the nerve to use them. I walk the Etihad-Manchester Picc in 25 minutes. Google maps says its 33 minutes and google says its 12 minutes by bike, but I wonder what it is on a busy match-day?

I've rode my bike twice from Stalybridge to the stadium along the canal and it worked out well so I'll be riding to more games in future. Only took me about 25 minutes easy riding so will only be about a 20 minutes ride now I'm living in Duki. If i drove it will probably take best part of 20 minutes walking from Droylsden or wherever i can park up.

I most often catch the tram from centre of Ashton which is fine as can usually get a seat but I dread waiting for tram home as i hate being squeezed into it. It's basically an accident waiting to happen, and nothing will happen until there's been an accident where passengers get hurt or even killed, unfortunately.
