The end of the agenda debate?

Being facetious, obviously, but a bit odd the ref overturned the decision on that first goal today if the PL really don’t want us to win the league?

On a serious note, it’s abundantly clear that certain other teams don’t want us to succeed, and are aided and abetted by a sycophantic press. It cheapens the argument when every single negative headline or bad decision that goes against us is put down to an “agenda” though. We should concentrate on the far bigger issue.
There are fifty shades of red agenda. I concur with concentrating on the bigger issue, which does not make the not as bigger issues irrelevant nor bluemooners paranoia. It is a concerted effort on many levels.

I agree with this. We suffer from being in the same "city" as the press's click bait golden child. Of course they are going to pander to them more than us as it creates clicks/copies sold.

The FFP things were always coming once the hacking took place. There was always a fine balance between our press not covering them as they weren't legally gained, whilst then all seeing what they contained (context irrelevant for them). At some point, they were always going to cry foul and demand City were investigated.

It's the same for all bodies looking at us. The emails suggest things. They have to be seen to be doing something to appease not only the press, but the boards of the outspoken cartel that can't stand the fact we have come from obscurity to being on the brink of bettering them.

The fact they are investigating us on all fronts does not imply that we are guilty of anything. If the club have been savvy, the likelihood is that not much is going to be proven.

If any of the G14's emails had been hacked in the same way, I am sure that they would find multiple skeletons or silhouettes of skeletons in their closets. This is how business runs. Close to the wind, but not close enough to draw the spotlight on anything specific.

The agenda comes from the point of view that we don't get enough credit for what the good things we achieve in comparison with others in the same position as us. This is in part because the Rags gain more money through clicks and copies sold than us and so belittling us exacerbates this.

We also have a business model that scares people and is different to what has come before, so the cartel are trying to destroy it before it destroys them. Dog eat dog.

The media will always pander to the masses as it's in their interest.

I love the club's approach to it. Fuck them. It doesn't matter what they say. We'll win anyway. We're growing into serial winners. As that increases, so will our positive press. It's an organic process.

If all else fails, I have confidence in our board and owners to destroy FFP in court..

In the meantime, we've got a League to win.

Fuck everyone else and come on City!

I've not seen a replay, but it confused me completely, but whilst at the game, we had texts almost immediately saying definitely "no goal", and definitely "goal", and that highlights the current malaise with the offside law (not to mention the handball law - which is equally f**ked imho).

VAR (the way its being used here at the moment) isn't helping any of it, in this competition but not that, different version domestically than in europe, and in europe it mysteriously doesn't work as it should at a team sponsored by one of UEFA's sponsors.

Nor is the secret society on the earpieces, who knows who is saying what to who, it was supposed to be only referee and assistants talking to each other when it first came in, but we know the 4th official has one, but who else ? Are we actually seeing a pre-VAR era in the PL, like its being used, but unofficially ?

Its a mess.

It's millwalls song....... No one likes us we dont care ! We should adopt it! They get more respect than us, Champions of England! We are City from Maine rd.

We were the noisy neighbors, now we are the noisy neighbors building a Castle in their precious, sanctimonious street. They will throw their rotten tomatoes at us, we will invite them in and show them how it’s really done. Meanwhile, UEFA building inspector will keep knocking and the neighbour hood watch will still Meet regularly to discuss our presence. All the while We shall continue to be hospitable towards them. They will dine with us and enjoy trips around what we have built. Then they will crawl back to the moral high ground and carry on as was. Whilst we enjoy our achievements they will wollow in self pity. So I pity them. I feel sorry for them. I get to witness my club growing into a wonderful achievement and adventure, I’m not really bothered if they don’t like it. I like it and that’s all that matters.

Actually, I'll refine that. I think there is a bias in the media pro United and Liverpool. I think the old firm European clubs want to pull up the drawbridge. But I don't think there is any specific agenda against city, and I don't think it extends to referees / in match decisions

It wasn’t pro Utd and liverpool when Leicester won the league. The press were gushing about that ‘fairytale’ and what a fantastic achievement it was.

Remind me again - how many records did City break last year? As another poster has said, we achieved 100 points and it’s never mentioned.

Any other club ( whether they play in red or not) would be lauded for that whenever they got mentioned.

Setting aside his obvious bias - and more likely hatred for us - Peter Walton didn’t have a clue yesterday re the present offside rule. Even with VAR it would have been contentious because you could make a case for giving or disallowing a goal. The offside rules were fine 10 years ago - then they dicked about with it and now it’s too complicated and can’t deal with real game scenarios. Raz should have been offside yesterday but so should the player in the Schalke game.

This. For VAR to work effectively re offsides the law has to be changed and it has to go back to if you are stood in an offside position then you are offside.

No active, inactive crap or not interfering with play, offside or not as it takes away the interpretation and the ability for VAR to be used to benefit certain sides whilst penalising others.

Dont hold your breath though.
